whats the best way to tidy up a "birds nest" of an ecu, The nova i brought has had a c16xe conversion but the wiring needs attention, engine bay doesn't look to bad, however the ecu is in the glove box and is a mess also the wires running under the dash look a bit crap.

are crimps OK to use to re-wire from points? or is solder the way forward? what cable should i be using? and is there anything available that will tidy up bunches of cables?

Also does anyone have any diagrams for a corsa gsi c16xe loom? ill dig out the my haynes if i can remember where i've put it!

Thanks
Sam

the surface on crimp connectors can sometimes oxidize in damp environments, which can cause issues. you cant go wrong with soldering, its strong and durable, slip a bit of " heat shrink " on the wire before you solder it, and you can tidy them up nicely. 3mm stuff in that link below should be ok for the majority of your wires.

also, cable ties mixed with these for larger level crowd control lol :

Thanks for the reply, what cable is best to use?

wire you mean ?

if so :- some people say you MUST use the correct rated wire, and the SAME colour sheathing etc, but anything that closely similar in thickness should do you fine. ive not had any issues that way myself.

if you've not used the heatshrink before, you cut a small length of it, slightly bigger than your soldered joint will be, and slide it onto one of the two wires that your about to join with solder. then slip the heatshrink over the solder join, and if you move the flame of a lighter back and forth across it, it will shrink down and grab the wire where you've positioned it.
