Morning all
rite I'm in the process or building a 2.0 8v ne turbo and not 100% sure on what gear box would be best?? F20 or f16? Any other options (has any one got one for sale??)
hoping for power output to be round 170 bhp,

engine spec so far
2.0 ne
t3turbo
38mm external waste gate running at 8 psi to start with
Recirculating bov
let pitons and rods (if I can find some)
standand management (till have the money for mega squirt)
mid size intercooler with 57mm pipe work
afpr with external electrical fuel pump

Dose this spec sound all ok? Been doing quite a lot of research and this looked like the best way wound it,any advice welcome

thanks
ben

Just lob an f20 her. Least if you break the box there are plenty of replacements but it should be fine imo

Either should be fine

Burgo have you seen how much F20s go for now on ebay, £100+ and most are ****ed anyway!!

so you use an f18. there are tons of them about..

why let pistons & rods?? it would massively raise the cr compared with the ne ones & the std rods are most likely no stronger than the std ne ones.

On factory management it will be:
Hardly any faster than without a turbo OR
Blow up

Get an aftermarket ECU in there, or at the very least retrofit a C20LET one on

Every thread I've read and used (extreme vaux) when it was going said standard manegment was good for 160-170 ish bhp with out and internal mods???
also I would of though the let rods and pistons would of been way more stronger than the standard ne one?? Seemed to be the mod every one was using before spending loads on forged pitons and rods???

At its most basic when adding compressed air into an engine you need to increase fuel by more than a 1:1 ratio, you need the extra fuel for the air and also even more fuel to cool the chamber. If you're going to bodge it you can use a rising rate fuel pressure regulator for this task. The other thing you need is to retard the ignition on boost to prevent detonation/knock (which is an uncontrolled explosion of the air/fuel mix inside the combustion chamber) - if this were to occur the weaker NE pistons would fail earlier than LET pistons.. this is probably why your friends at extreme vaux are suggesting you fit them.

F20 or f18 will be fine.
