Herro.

I bought a Cavalier Turbo today after a very vague phone call. The 4x4 isnt working, how can i diagnose the problem. Secondly, what Turbo should it have?

check that fuse 19 is fitted if not it will be in 2wd mode

clutch plates in the TXB may be ****ed hence only running 2wd mode

but normally if the clutch plates are naffed the TXB with dump all its fluid up the breather pipe but the header tank

The water tank? Or will there be a visable leak? Also can the clutches be replaced?

sorry

the breather pipe come up into the bay by the header tank area

and yes is spew fluid every were make hell of a mess of the bay, been there done that :(

not sure if the plates can be bought new,

but most people fit the MH locking rings which make a permanent 4x4

If the exhaust manifold is a part of the turbo its what it originally came with.

Your first post says '4x4 isn't working' what makes you say that? Is the 4x4 light on after start up? Or is it flashing? If it's flashing then it's indicating the 4x4 can't disengage. Have you tried holding the break pedal down and starting car and then letting pedal up and observing what happens? Has tx breather pipe been plugged? (To prevent PAS fluid loss) have you done a whoosh test. Checked break light switch.

Have a good read on cav 16. Loads of info on the 4x4 there. :)

I did feck all yet, I only bought it 2 days back as a 4x4 non working. The 4x4 light is on but not flashing and the guy I bought it off has bought a spare transfer box so I assumed it was that.

Its growing on me, at first I didnt like the colour but I reckon if I paint the bumper tops blsck snd delete the yellow stripe it'll help.

I prefer my old Turbo R though.

It's the bottom full length skirts and I think I might have the rear hockey sticks too. But I'll have I check them.
I'll have to check what postage is and get back to you.
