well I think it is anyway. After battling the brakes and finally getting them working the nova feels flat when you put your foot down and then it'll just pick up straight after like nothing happened. Gonna check the fuel filter tomorrow to see if that's the cause, if not idea where it could be? I did have problems with kinked lines before so maybe a relapse? even though I'm running genuine lines unlike before. The car does idle and drive so it's not major.
Thanks Charlie

Mines a bit like that but not as bad, mines the vacuum advance not working though, yours could also be blocked jets if not that.

Well I bypassed the fuel filter today and still no joy, will have another look tomorrow when it's light out. Could be blocked jets but doubt it as I run a fuel filter but will clear them anyway.

you might have:

a fuel line with a pinhole in it
some crap in the tank covering the pipe
a knackered fuel pump
knackered dizzy, coil, ht leads or plugs
blocked carb jets
timing a mile out
choke badly setup
stretched throttle cable

plus loads of other things
