PS3 problems

Hi all,

Is there anyone on the site who knows about the ps3 Im having trouble with one ive just got.I got it as spares due to it not reading discs so I purchased a recon blue ray drive off Ebay and it plays all media and games except the new GTA5 which is why I got it in the first place. When the disc is inserted it reads and the game starts to auto run but then it goes to a black screen and the disc spins a few times then stops then I have to reboot it.

Does anyone know any common problems with these machines Ive been told it could be the blue ray data cable or logic board but not sure any help on this would be great.

I know this will sound silly but have you tried another game in it? and is this the first time you have played the new GTA 5? as it comes with an Install Disk that you need to use first :)

hey Anton yeah other games work fine and yes its the first time i have tried to play GTA 5 I have 1 disc and one i put it in the drive it spins up the screen goes black

You should have two disc's one for the Whole installation of the game and the other ''disc 2'' actually plays the game?

I just have 1 disc got the game new from shop today

Hmm maybe its different from the Xbox then, i posted a link in second last comment i wrote possibly see if that helps? Sorry im not much use but if its playing other games etc it cant be the PS3/Drive.

GTA5 is a duel layer disc

Does it play other duel layer disc games?

Chap at work has similar problem

Do you have enough memory as GTA 5 needs 8gb on first start up it installs the game

The hard drive is empty its the 40gb ps3 how do i tell if the game is dual layer ?

Gta5 requires 17.5gig in total. It's been a common problem on 40g consoles. Easiest way round it is drop a 120g hd in.

i cant even get it to load up at all not even try to install

The load and install is automatic on GTA 5 so there's nothing to click, you just see the intro for longer

I would of thought if it was installation space it would tell you, as it did for me..

Sounds like something else is wrong imo.

Is it the old fat machine, or slim? As old machines suffer from issues, my mates did, it just wouldn't load anything in the end..

Yeah it's the fat machine and it's had a recon blue ray player fitted and it plays other discs fine. When I put disc in I get a black screen until I reboot

When I go into settings, system settings, system information and free space 13gb / 37gb and mines works fine

I bought Forza 4 about 2 weeks after it came out (second hand) the special edition in the steel case with the extras disc, made the mistake of moving my xbox and scratching **** out of the disc so its tempermental now.

And that reminds me, I've gotta get it back off Jed.
