View Full Version : C20XE wiring - the wires others tell you to ignore....

So in my build today I went to wire up the C20XE's interior plugs to the Nova loom, aside from the usual wires people tell you to connect (green-tacho, blue-temp, red/blue-fuel pump, brown/blue-ECU light) there are others that I remember just taping up on my previous builds.

But what are they for and should I care? (at this stage I should point out my copy of TIS2000 wiring diagrams won't load so I can't check myself :()

Blue/red - This is a speed sender input for the C20XE ECU isn't it?? I would think logically this would effect the running of the engine if not connected :wtf:
Red/white - Not sure but something tells me this is a data wire for the trip computer??
Black/brown - ??
Black/red ??
Brown/yellow - Diagnostics? I seem to remember earthing this wire to get the ECU light to code flash
Brown/white - Diagnostics?

Cheers for any input guys :thumb:

i always tell people to either leave the Brown/Yellow out handy or switch it to a switched ground. You always need the fault code/ecu light.
Brown/white wires in to the ODB reader/ Diagnostics port iirc, which can't be used in a Nova as it's on the Cav/Astra loom and would tell us better all even if you did wire it up.

Blue/Red would need a ABS signal wouldn't it? Which most Nova's don't have, plus i can't see really why the ECu you need that feed....

Nice one Mieran, I still wonder why the ECU has a speedo feed though. I can understand the trip computer needing it to work out MPG but that's it.

Abs,radio, traction control are usually used from a single "abs sensor"
