Seen this before, some of the places look awesome to visit and to find out the stories behind them.

That's cool. Although some of the pictures are a bit old. I visited the wreck site of the american star 8 years ago while on holiday in fuerteventura and even then the middle section of the wreck had completely rotted out leaving the bow and stern sections.

The abandoned chinese coal island and the town near chernobyl look like awesome places to explore.

Interesting to see so many places simply abandoned in a massively public area like the new york underground station and the Disney land river ride.

I think thats the spookiest thing about most of those places - the fact they should be really busy yet are deserted.

Chernobyl Diaries showed quite a bit of Pripyat, shame it was a **** film

Some of those places are well spooky. The orphanage one was creepy!

a couple of years ago we used to do a bit of urban exploring and spent a couple of nights in there its a
beautiful old building. we used to go up to denbeigh castle as well as my mate was into photography n could get a great view of the asylum from there. I believe most haunted did there haloween special there one year n made a load of **** up. we never had any bad experiences or feelings at all in there.

we also went to the countess of chester (diva) asylum a few times that was a lovely old building as well. but think its been totally demolished now.

the only time ive been remotely scared was in whittingham asylum in wales that was one seriously creepy place.

Some pics I have of Canehill mental asylum (stones thrown from my house) which closed in 1991 and part of it was set on fire in 2010. They've knocked most of it down now to build flats/houses.

Grat pictures there tony. It's almost a shame to demolish these old buildings but there of no use these days I suppose.

So who'd be up for buying a house on an old mental asylum site? Don't think it would bother me tbh. + I'm sure you could play some great pranks on friends and family when they came to visit. Lol lol

Have a look on www.28dayslater.co.uk it is a good site with lots of interesting photos and visit reports.
It is interesting to see what is local to where you live.

It's a shame they knock places down like the one TonySR posted, there was one near me called Winterton Asylum which they closed in 1996 and knocked down while I was at secondary school (1997-2002) cant remember exactly when they knocked it down but they started before I left school and finished after I left.

Was a massive place and was considered a village at one point as it had well over 2000 staff and inmates a post office and shops on site at its peak. It wasn't meant to be knocked down as allegedly it was a listed building shame they did anyway and built houses on it as it was a nice building, a couple of what used to be staff houses still exist though as does the chapel.

I heard a lot of creepy stories about the place (as you do) like when the demolition team were knocking it down they found tunnels underground that led to secret rooms which had jars of random body parts and all the things you see on horror films, how much was true we'll never know BUT there is (or was at the time of making it redundant) a 100 year ban on ANY ex staff talking about what went on it there which immediately raises suspicion.

Nevermind it says right there what the demolition team found lol
