Xmas Warning.
With Christmas upon us, I would like to share a personal experience with you all about drinking and driving. You may know someone personally and surely heard of someone that has had brushes with the authorities from time to time on the way home after a "social session" out with friends. Well, two days ago I was out for an evening with friends, and had several ciders followed by some rather nice red wine, it was from Italy after all.
Despite feeling merry, I still had the sense to realise that I might be slightly over the limit. That's when I did something that I've never done before - I took a bus home.
On the way home there was a police road check, but since it was a bus they simply waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident.
This was a real surprise, as I had never driven a bus before, I don't know where I got it, and now that it's parked outside my house I don't know how to get rid of it.
Be safe everyone, have a great Xmas!
A zero limit is the way forward. Letting people have 1 or 2 doesn't work, never has, never will.
Zero% then there is no "oh i think i'll be ok"

Got to agree with benn the 1 drink limit never works, i never drink if i know i am going to be driving or if i know i will be driving early the next day.
Stay safe everyone and merry christmas :)

I was gonna say for a moment that no one has read your post properly!! Haha. Awesome words.
On another more serious note Benn and petrolhead are indeed correct. If you're driving stay sober!

I got the the joke lol, just thought i would say be safe for the ones that will go out and drink and drive :)
AFPMSL, thats really good, i like that, i was thinking it was something quite serious at first lol
Well played sir i like that one:thumb:
But on a serious note, remember kiddies it takes at least an hour per drink for you to sober up fully, and you dont start to rid yourself of it till about an hour after youve finished drinking, so if you have 12 pints and stop drinking at 1am, its going to be 2pm the next day before all of the alcohol is out of your system!
Haha got me too thought you were being serious at first, as a professional driver (for a Brewery ironically) I won't take the risks as I love my job and for obvious reasons.
This had me in fits of laughter!! Even made my wife laugh and she's not the quickest of cats with jokes!!
As for drink driving I reported my father in law to the police for it about 4 months ago, he was arrested and banned for 14 months and got a £330 fine.
He's an alcoholic and has driven many times over past 10 years but I've just never been able to get him pinned down and get the Police to intercept him.
I would call the Police on my own brother if it came to it (not that it would, none of us drink) I'm no grass, far from it, and I've been on the wrong side of the law a few times but drink driving is inexcusable, if you can afford 10 pints you can afford a taxi home!! I'll get off my soapbox now!!
Hope everyone stays safe.

The only thing with 0% limit is the next day, how long do you need to wait until you have 0% in your blood? Even if you had 2 or 3 beers would you then be over the limit the next morning?
I think its more down to the fact people think its ok to have a drink and still drive on the same day, I tend to bot have anything if im driving, even after 1 I can tell when I get in my car.

The Big Problem with zero limit is, it dose not work.
I live in a zero limit country the only drivers it stops are the ones who would have had just 1 drink after work with work mates then gone home (like me) but now I can't and don't.
As for the really drink drivers they don't think about what they are doing so carry on doing it any way, zero or not.
