So I picked up this little beauty on Friday from daveo on here. She's a 1.0 saloon and pretty clean too, coil overs on front and springs on the back and wolfrace slotmags

Quite a bit of progress on the saloon the other night, Got my N/S speaker working (didn't work before) was down to wiring in the end but while I was in there I changed it for something a little better. I got the interior lamps working upon oping the doors, replaced the heater control bulb and fitted a replacement wiper stalk as the old one just flapped around and didn't operate the washers, it had been wired up to a button witch no longer worked.

New wiper stalk didn't realise it wasn't mk1 so will be on the lookout for a mk1 stalk still

A contributing fact as to why the speaker didn't work, someone has cut off the plug for some reason. anyone got a new unmolested loom the wanna part with?

For some reason there are two aerials, it has an after market one but I'm guessing this is the original the only thing is if they went to all the trouble to wire a new onw in why is the old one still in there? aerial no 1

I'd start agin with all that wiring. Get rid of the connectors and solder the wires. Makes them less bulky. Good looking Novas you have there.

Yeah it's an absolute mess, i would solder but would rather put a new loom in, or at least put a plug back on it all

had to do same myself few weeks ago i only had a live wire tho what ever butcher was there before me,so just ran 2sets of speakers wires to dash speakers jobs good for now

Made some progress on the loon today and will be making some more tomorrow, Got the 80mm springs in with Spax shocks and removed the over head brake light. Also replaced the n/s/r light as it was broken and letting damp into the boot and replaced the light in the boot too as the terminals had corroded so bad.

So i picked up some goodies for her the other day, old style OMP strut brace for the animal 1.0, 2.0 brake conversion and a wait for it... Cherry bomb (expecting some abuse for that lol ). The brakes aren't fitted yet so no pics of them but everything else is so here they are. oh and I fitted some fancy pants led lights too.


Fitting new exhaust, underneath is really clean, also still had genuine (probs original) system on it too.

Done a bit to the saloon this weekend sourced a 1.6 gte lump on carbs, stripped out the rear seats ready for my buckets and 4 point harnesses and fitted a 2ltr brake set-up.

One thing that been annoying me with the saloon was the passenger door wouldn't activate the interior light when opened so I looked for a new sensor but didn't have much luck, I found this one in a corsa c and with a tiny bit of modding it went straight in. All I did was break away the plastic casing around the terminals and then ran an earth to a point (where I think the glove box light earths too) and extended the switch live to it. it's exactly the right size and looks a lot better than the nova one.

Been a while since i updated so here it is. I bought some modified gear linkage and nylon bushes for her as the shifts where about as tight as a cock in a bucket, real difference with this set up not play at all. Gonna convert my other one to this as well as it feels crap compared now lol

Bit fiddly but seeing as it has no side vents you pull out the blanks and the clocks and you can get in there dead easy, and just take the glove box out on the pas side.

I stripped all the sound deadening out and then realised why people say you should do it when it's freezing, this stuff is as sticky and gummy as

Made a start cleaning off the factory waxoyl out they bay with will be getting a freshen up when done, used a tiny little steam cleaner and this is where i currently am.

Battery relocation is done, quite pleased considering it only cost me the price of the cables, battery was going for scrap, cable i found and tray was made up by my neighbour who is a fabricator

Was really motivated to get on with it today so I got the welder out and welded in my subframes and bolted in the side mounts. Lucky I have a snap off boss as I wouldn't have been able to get in or out otherwise lol now just need to weld in harness brackets and gt the harnesses, weld in cage, change the dash and she'll be ready for the road but defo nowhere near finished lol

hardcore is one word lol, thank god its not a daily haha. its the final position at the moment but when i get my pedal box i'll be moving the whole lot back so the seat will come back with it along with the shifter and the column

So... failed to update on here for ages but will try and let a few pictures do the talking, she should be all insured by thursday :) then the running in begins and then brands hatch and pod time :thumb: Cage is out for the moment as it turned out it is twisted lol the joys of second hand parts... i might fit the rear as that's still straight and see if i can have a front half fabricated. still a lot more to do like, pedal box, braided lines (fuel and brakes), rear arb mod, alloy rad, oil cooler, passanger bucket, cable shift, paint it theres loads more but can't think of the top of my head. Also fitted a 2" system all the way through as a temp solution as i had no exhaust as i sold it lol i made it out of a sportex system but due to the back box being completely different i just made a straight through witch i think i may learn to regret haha. and got my hands on a rev limiter so been having a little play with that too

She's now on the road! finally! went for her first proper run today and had a few issues but nothing serious, exhaust came loose and started blowing, wiper got stuck at full extension, and servo started to play up, but other than that she was great and even though I'm still running in she pulls really well!

I've been busy, loads of little bits done but main bits recently was the lifter seeing and destroying a follower and cam. Nice. I put in another ultimate road cam and new lifters and followers, she's silent now. Also probably didn't halo that I ran the quater with it like it lol

I also fitted cable shift aswell, massive improvement over the floppy rod linkage, gonna work on a short shit for it soon. Not too much of a pig to fit either. Small amount of welding and cutting witch is to be expected really. I took the dash out my old shell and cut it to fit my digital dash better witch isn't that easy with a mk1 dash, I'll have to get some pics. Got the disc conversion done today, or so i thought anyway :/ i bled it all out and after finding and sorting one leak I pulled the handbrake and managed to pop a line off, not a flexi either :s it completely sheered the flare off and pulled out the back of the connector probably my pony flaring tool, so there's a job for tomorrow now lol. alos have a bit of a clearance issue, debating on a roller or angle grinder haha.

Still not done a massive amount to the nova yet more just hoarding parts lol. But managed to get the engine built up to a tall block now. Also got some equal Length shafts, a pair of sparco, alloy rad, 10mm ht leads, loom and loads of little bits. well here's the 'proper' update, the car is nearly ready to receive it's new heart. I needed to cut the rust out the bay first before I started welding anything else so started at the battery tray witch had a tendency to shower your feet in rust whenever you hit a bump or slammed the door. someone had tried to repair it with fibreglass and mesh shite in the past witch was, well, a poor attempt.

seeing as the bulkhead pretty much fell away with the tray it was time for a repair to that too, again I ended up having to replace more off camera as the repair panel I eye-balled up was wank.

Cross member went in the same place for me, keep a close eye on it splitting the welds out, Iain had that happen after some spirited driving!!!!

I've really had enough of small blocks now, I enjoyed my 1300 more than my 1600 bang for buck. But they just arn't on the same page as modern hot hatch's. I'm using a gt2871r, 200sx turbo should be more than enough for what I want, for now...
