View Full Version : new insurance company needed for c20let nova insurance...
ok, my nova insurance has been creeping up over the last few years, i only drive the thing 2000 miles a year , rest of the time it sits in the garage, all mods declared, 2.0l on the logbook, in a very low risk area with no points ,and they want almost £500, ive got friends around here with huge spec cosworths with points who pay less than me , this is with adrain flux! been with them 14 years now, and going to change, any recommendations????????????????????????????????

I can only dream of insurance that cheap!! And I drive a 240 !
i always assumed Adrian flux were the cheapest :/ but I've never been with them because they always wanted put a black box in my cars
I'm with HIc so that's no help.
But both of them will match quotes... Ring people like Greenlight, sky, performance direct, Them Irish guys too...
Try Graham Sykes. They cover my V6 on limited'ish miles for £200.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to what someone else tells you they are paying.
Feel free to get in touch for a quotation, tel: 01707 642552

i rang sky today, best they could do was £460, im going to keep trying, with the amount of ncd and no accidents, convictions etc, imo it should be like what jack pays, £200-250 max!

I had this problem with Adrian Flux, my previous quote was £400 then this year it jumped up to £700!!! I called them up and got the standard issue 'that's the best quote' bull****, so I started calling up the usual suspects and got some better quotes but my best was from A-plan insurance (I actually went into one of their branches and had a face to face quote) which was £440.
I went back to Adrian Flux stating that A-plan have quoted me £440 and after a few minutes being on hold Adrian Flux magically were able to match that quote.
That was for my Carlton btw

Hic is part of adrian flux believe it or not i found out the othee day phoning around for insurance. My nova let is insured with flux so tried hic and they said their partbof flux typical.
Did you not know that^ Been like it for years..
Brentacre are good, very helpful too. The insured my v6 for £300 less than anyone else.
I'm with HIc so that's no help.

Hi Benn, what Irish guys are you referring to?
I can't get a modified quote on anything other than what came as standard spec over here, as in a nova as a 1.6, anything bigger than that and they refuse to quote me. Had an xe project planned for the summer but if I can't insure it properly and legally it would be a complete waste of time and money.
If you can remember their name it would be a great help.
Cheers,
Cónan.
Erm..... Looking in to it now, i was thinking or RL insurance, which i now don't think are Irish.
Cheers Benn, looks like I'll be sticking with the 1.6
Google it or yell.com? Must be someone over there that does it.
I know a few very turned cars. Keith Robinson comes to mind.
^^ I have done man. Found a couple of brokers but the cheapest was 2.6k with 7 years NCB and I've held a full clean licence for the last 6 years, crazy prices. I know loads of people that have all sorts of mods but none of them are declared. I don't like the idea of undeclared mods, sooner stay ligit in case the worst were ever to happen.
I'll try get a few quotes for the 1.6 and weigh up my options.
Thanks for your help Benn, appreciate it.
well well, after a good ring round, graham sykes as come up trumps so far at £280 fully comp, still got hic to ring and adrain flux reckon they will beat any genuine quotem so see what happens after the hoildays!! thanks to all members imput on this, MERRY XMAS XXX

well....i tried graham sykes, sky, on a "mirror" quote and 1500 miles a year on classic!! was like £300, to £450!!! Its a mk2 1.4 SRI!! Phoned adrian flux and they said again on "mirror" insurance at 3000 miles full comp, without being able to drive other cars, it was only £194, bare in mind i am 32 with no history or points!!! Guessing your getting the age disscount if u have had insurance for 14 years alex?? 280 dont seem that bad as its a 2.0 PLUS insurance companies do put it up if the car is modded. Plus its a nova 2.0 which means it wont be hanging about!!! lol
The way i look at it i can insure a 400bhp cosworth for £280 fully comp so a shonkt nova worth 10 times less shouldnt cost more imo lol

i have a mk2 gsi 20xe with everything declared and have been driving for 16 years and have 0 ncb and got quoted 730 fully comp:confused::confused: with flux and i,m now not happy:cry::cry::cry:
Bugger all matters bar NCB. That's what gets the cost down.
^ Yep, NCB is the most valuable but its also worth mentioning how long you've owned the car; I noticed a lot of insurers drop the price if the purchase date was a few years ago compared to <1 year or 'not bought yet'.
