Hi guys

i have a rubbing sound when turning left slightly, soon as I straighten up the noise stops and it does NOT do it when turning right. I have had the car on a ramp checked and there is no signs of any components rubbing anywhere, I've swapped suspension side to side. No play anywhere on the front. Had the tracking checked.

Strange ......Any ideas.???

thanks Steve

Turn left under load or coasting.

Turning left, as in slowing for a left turn into a junction/parking space etc. no signs at all of rubbing. The car has SPAX coil overs on and has a c20xe. Only just started doing it and I've had the car 6 months.

Does it do it if your not moving the car but steer left?

Try raising your suspension.

I thought it were the coil overs at first. Not sure why just not a fan of them. Need to change back to up rated suspension.

Have you done the alternator modification i.e has it a dent/cutout in the chassis leg?

Try standard suspension if you've got a set kicking about but remember that you'll have to reset the tracking and toe again if you do ;)

The chassis has been cut at that bit from what I recall.

Another thought, have you got a cage in?

solid engine mounts?

welded engine bay?

what years the car on??

Could be the tyre rubbing on the coilover, when on full lock the angle the wheel sits at changes and brings it closer to the strut or further away on the opposite side. Only reason I noticed this as my coilovers have the elongated holes for the top bolt of the shock absorber to hub fitting which allows adjustment of the camber. My tyres sit very close to the bottom spring cup on the coilover normally and so if I don't get the coilovers bolted back on in exactly the right place they can rub on the bottom spring cup, full lock right then the tyre is closer to the coilover on the N/S wheel and full lock left its closer on the O/S. Just a thought!
