Hi. Iwant to remove the glass (intact) from a mk1 headlight. Is there a tried and tested method?

Cutting the sealant with a knife and levering didnt work.
Softening the sealant in an oven, then levering didn't work, but it was close. Although I didnt leave it in there for that long or for that high a temp.

Anyone know how to do it?

Yep. The photos of my trackday are ruined by my lack of headlight! lol
The glazier has no problem cutting the glass, but only if he can lay it flat down on the bench, so therefore I need to remove the glass. I was using a KINBY pattern part, perhaps this was more stubborn?

Run it under hot water in the sink, leave it under for a few mins to get the glass nice and warm, and slowly and carefully separate the glass using a small flatblade screwdriver, water has to be pretty hot, just be patient and youll get it :thumb:

never tried it but maybe
use a heat gun to warm the glass
at work we have tar an adhesive remover if you were to soak it over night maybe this would work

Can this be done and then the headlight silver redone for faded headlights?
