I'm currently toying with the idea of doing this, has it been done before?
any guesses on insurence?

This is a joke right?

Let me see, you have two choices, either sequential twin turbos or parellel ones.

Parrellel ones would mean only 2 cylinders per turbo, so at low rpm the frequency of exhaust pulses entering them would be about as frequent as a nun getting laid, and the thing just wouldnt want to work at all well

Or you do them sequentially with one feeding the other, which means there is no point at all unless you are going for quite dramatically different size turbos tike a T2 and a T4, so that will mean you are looking at getting 300-400 bhp.

Save your money and buy a LET when you are old enough to insure one.

i was thinking 1.6 so that it would still handel, but using a 2.0ltr would probaly be alot more feasable. it's just i'm planning on getting a GTO in a few months and wondered if a nova could run a twin turbo system

wot about the twin turbo set up similer to the mr2 which is a twin inlet as apposed to two seperate turbos

The MR2 is a single turbo still, twin entry is very different to twin turbo.

Unless you are planning on spending a couple of grand minimum thougg there is no point at all, youd be better off with a single T2 or similar.

Why on the earth would you want to do a Twin Turbo? Are you mad? A single Turbo will give you as much power as you could possibly need as long as you spend enough wedge on the engine. Twin Turbo on a 1.6 is just Stupid! :o

Has there ever been any Supercharged Novas?

I think that you need EFi or a similar system to that (on board compueter) for fuel management for a supercharger.

This may be bollocks though.... sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.

That is complete, 100% total nonsense, you couldnt have posted anything less accurate if you tried.

A supercharger (much like a turbo) will work perfectly happily with carbs the same as it will with injection.
Obviously injection is preferable for the same reasons it is on a normally aspirated engine, like more accuracy in terms of fuelling etc, but there is no reason at all why you cant used a supercharger with carbs, and in fact people have been doing that for about 80 years now, superchargers and turbochargers both pre-date fuel injection by many decades, as does nitrous injection too.
Superchargers are a great idea in principle but in reality a well designed turbo setup is far superior really as it doesnt sap as much energy from the engine to turn it in the first place, hence why almost all modern forced induction cars are now turbo chargers.

was toyin with idea of putting a supercharger off a mini onto a 1300 engine with 40's..... I know a bloke who like putting them on V8's and mini and he said .... im sure i might have a supercharger that may bolt on to your engine :o

I was like nice .... but nothin ever came of it

bascially they have twin turbos becuz they have more cylinders...

such as v6 = 6, v8=8 and so on. so they usaly have more than 1 exhaust system so they need more than 1 turbo!!

A mate of mine looked into either turboing or supercharging his twin 40s. found ou you have to put the whole carb under pressure or the pressure blows back thru the jets and into the float chamber and you get no fuel :?
Just thought i'd add my 2pence!

Its certainly possibly because ive seen it done.
Personally i cant imagine why anyone would want it fuelled by a carb instead of injection though.
