Hi folk recently removed my 1.4 8valve engine out of my little nova. ( nothing wrong with the engine but need advice on what to do to make it faster and look nicer )
I have a 1.4 16 valve ecotec engine loom and ecu to use in this motor. ( if I want and if it's simple to do myself )

Do you lads reckon I'm better keeping the 8 valve engine and changing a few things to make it a bit faster. Or change the engine and box to the 1.4 16 valve ecotec

Its hard to say wheather its worth it or not. depends how much you like playing with spanners.

14xe is a great engine and would be faser than the 8v. however there are easier ways to tune an 8v cheeper than a 16v. plus the fact the 8v is easier to work on.

youll have to thin kabout changing a stem seal on an 8v which isnt a big job and easily a days work. or changing the engine, changing the wiring and changing the tank and pump for the 16v.

but yes a 1400 16v would be nice.

It depends how much you wanna spend. 14xe is a pretty good engine out the box, but theres just something a little bit satisfying about a screaming homebuilt 8v, might just be me lol

I have my 8 valve engine sitting with the head off to change the seals and I am an apprentice mechanic and am at my workshop every night so spanners are great fun. Just don't know if I should strap webbers to the 8 valve or go to hassle of changing wiring etc. Can I put different Internals in the 8 valve to make it shift
