I emailed him just before christmas about my car.
He has a list of chassis numbers. How many are on that list he would not disclose to me.
the ones on that list he will verify, however, some like mine were made after the initial production run. So hence he does nt exactly know how many were made as some with sunroofs were made as a one off to specific dealers who requested them. So not an exact science.
the cars themselves do not have a specific number attached to them either. Ie a stamp on the chassis etc..
so to check out a real one can be difficult without all the facts of the car.
if the original owner has details form the dvla to show it has base on the original V5 and everything else adds up. Ie rear seat, the correct carbs 143 and 144, white original colour, 1300 base on logbook,
I would say that that car is genuine.
hope this helps anyone who is looking at one to buy.
an owner of one for over 20 years and knowing quite a few in my time you do get a feel for what is a right car.
