Been trying to get around to doing this for a couple of months now, so today was the day, to start at least!

Need to swap the crownwheel, and reassemble now

Just wanted some feedback regarding the grooved discs, I have always thought they are on the wrong way, since buying her, I set my SR's the other way! i.e to throw dust gases out over
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/1297cc/IMG-20131116-00559_zpsabdf9498.jpg

LH disc shown, i.e. rotates anticlockwise when driving forward, any one agree?

Yes i wouldve thought that would be a R/H disc, my mate fitted grooved discs on his pulsar years ago, and got them wrong, with two nights of 'spirited' driving, he had chewed a set of pads lol

Definitely the discs are the wrong way round Royston.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts once you've driven the ZF LSD.

Thanks Colin/Mr Spud, I have the front end stripped so will put them on the correct way when I reassemble, might get chance tomorrow as plans have changed.

It will be a while before she hit's the streets (march next year hopefully) I'll let you know how it drives, it is set up for tarmac I am told, and the reason for fitting is to improve hook up off the line on the strip

Thanks again!

What's the diff set up at? 40% or 90%?

out of curiosity, does anyone know if gm did a factory lsd for the f13/15/17 box?

Nica addition to the Sport, would like a LSD of some sort for mine at some point. Glad the tool was helpful to you, looks a good fit. The guys at Aeroquip did a good job of making that for me :)

I had a pair of Tarox discs that looked very much like them fitted to my GSI many moons ago. I had them fitted like yours are, as the instructions stated that if they had less than X number of groves fit them as per your picture, if they have more than X fit them as per directional.

Having a quick look on google at images of grooved discs there seems to be arguments for both directions but I'd imagine Graham had the same ponder when he fitted them!? I'd say they'll be fine as they are, the difference it'd make is probably so slight you'd not notice and it may cause more problems swapping them over if they disc doesn't sit totally flat again?

Im sure I remember reading a while back on Mig that some Omega estates (could of been other models) had a diff in the estate versions, may of even been Vectra Estates, it was on a thread by a European guy who referred to them as "caravans" I think if you wanted to try searching for it, he posted more or less all the details to help you find one.

Diff will be in the back axle in an Omega though.

Realised this after posting, so it won't be an Omega! I'm certain it was a fwd model

Looks good, i've just fitted a ZF in my nova @ 40% made so much difference but still getting used to the snatching on slippy surfaces. R.e the brake discs. It depends what you want from them. I've always used mine like they are on yours. This is for better brakes as the disc grips the pads better but they don't last as long. It just depends on the compromise you want to make!

Looking forward to giving her a spin.........next year

I have checked the internal vents on the discs and the are straight so makes no difference internally, below is a photo of the SR's offside front wheel/disc

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v697/1297cc/DSCF2912.jpg

Debate continues.....I don't really see any difference in relation to pad wear as the slot passes the pad no matter which way, but would have thought the deglazing slots should throw the dust/gas outover, not inover

My cousin is right into Carltons, Senators and Omegas and I remember him saying certain cars had an LSD and they went for decent money if you could get hold of them

Just a thought, if it is a plate type diff you will probably need a different gearbox oil.

you simply need an LSD additive.. tractor dealers may have it in stock, as nearly all 4wd tractors have lsd's fitted.

Just the front bumper and Irmscher spoiler to fit:d

Once she's back on the ground, need to swap place with the SR as she need a new rear crankshaft seal:mad:

Well car is on her wheels again, I ordered the Castrol B373 from Opie Oils on Monday, it arrived Tuesday, what a service, just have to wait until Friday/Saturday to pour it in and the jobs done.

I then need to swap places with the SR so I can drop the engine and box to do the rear crankshaft seal, once I've ascertained if the oil pressure is too high or not on the engine or if the relief valve is stuck!

What made you choose a plate diff over an atb one? Looks great on the comps!
