View Full Version : Resealing baffle plate in c20let rocker cover?
I removed the baffle plate from the rocker cover so I could shot blast and powder coat it.
what sealer should I use to seal it back in.
Also is it worth fitting the Courtney breather mod whilst its off?
I use RTV as its oil and fuel proof, so will stay stuck.
Cheers benn, I think thats what ive been looking at. vauxhall part no. 90485251
Might be, smell like really strong salt and vinegar... lol
Do you mean the baffle plate that sits inside over the two breather ports? If so mate you should no way fit it powder coated. The coating will degrade when mixed with hot oil and clog the engine up, people have come unstuck with this before, usually when cam covers are powder coated on the inside.
I didn't bother sealing the plate no point, I cut myne right down so it just covered past the breather ports and drilled a couple of holes in it. Never had any oil out the breather.
I took the baffle plate out before the rocker cover was powder coated so I could make sure it was all cleaned out properly, I havnt powder coated the baffle plate or the inside of the rocker cover.
i read about cutting the baffle plate down but wasn't sure weather to do it or just put It back in as normal.
Ah ok mate it kind of reads like you coated the baffle plate!.
as said I drilled some holes in myne and left it about 2" past the inner breather port.
As it's common to drill holes in it, I didn't see any point in sealing it back in either. Just bolted it in after following this guide to shorten it:

Aye, I did the same. Cut it down and just bolted it back in place.
Plus loctite on the bolts!
