Right here goes , im looking to build up an engine for my corsa rally car , want to try make the most of engines and parfs that I already have , it can be 1400, 1600 either 8 or 16v , the engines I have are c14nz c16nz x14xe x16xel c14se and 2 heads from daewoo lanos. I have looms and ecu's for both 16v a set of twin 40's and a fast road cam and vernier for 1400 8v , so come on lads what will be my best combination of parts to make a nice driveable engine, get the thinking caps on !

What power, budget. If fitting carbs. 8v is easier. But just depends how far into the build you want to go/spend

Tbh budget is very small , just tryi g to get the best out of what I have, will be doi g everything myself, have no target for power, what head would be the best to start with? Is there much that can be done with standard Injection on 16 v?

Id go for 16v, just free the breathing and exhaust up and fit some ARP rod bolts

x14xe with se head for 1400 8v
c16nz with se head for 1600 8v
x14xe with xel head for 1400 16v as standard
x16xel for 1600 16v as standard
x16xel for 14xe head as 1600 16v with better scope for future mods.
x14xe as 1400 16v with better scope for future mods.

The choice is yours, xel is the best flowing head as std, but its easier to get/ find mods for the xe's

x14xe with se head for 1400 8v

This one if it was me. Depends what your future plans are though

Standard injection your limited due to ecu. Hence 8v cheaper to tune and fit carbs. 16xe bottom end, 14se head, ported, double springs, cam, solid lifters and carbs and you'll have a good engine.

Thanks for the replies , i have a 1600 8 v in the car atm, im open to changing class with 1400, what are the difference In the 8v heads? Are the daewoo heads any good ? Is there any heads that have bigger valves? Have a 1.2 out of 1991 nova with carb as well

Think the 14se and 16se valves are the same but different chamber volume
