View Full Version : 20xe ARP head bolts?
can the ARP head bolt kit be fitted to all xe's?
SBD say only to fit to the early xe's?
why do you get long & short head bolts as standard??
early = long
late = short?
any reason for this?

You must counter sink the rod ends as there is a shanfure on the arp bolts
how many in a kit ? Crank and rob bolts may be diffrant lengths
neither lol
head bolts im on about dude :)
Iirc im sure heads where washers sit are a different height so could be because of that and not have the clamping force needed.

I think he means stud kits?? As they run bolts as standard.

good question, have you had any head gasket failures relating to OE bolt stretch?
^^ no
but in middle of building engine up ML
They will be head stud and nuts not bolts. You are meant to be able to get better clamping force with them compared to std head bolts.
the late heads require a 5mm spacer to be fitted under the normal washer as the head is slimmer, meaning the nut would bottom out on the thread before full torque is achieved

out of curiosity, what is the torque figure for the ARP bolts vs the OE bolts?
well stock bolts are usually done with angles after an initial 18 lb/ft but can also be done in stages up to 75 lb/ft if using a cometic gasket, whereas the head studs will go up to 80 lb/ft, but the torque will be more accurately applied
