how do you guys rate the budget coilovers against the regular macphersons ?

Pointless. Buy cheap buy twice.....

Buy some good quality second hand shocks and springs. Or coilovers. If you can afford new that is.

And most of the budget setups still run shocks and springs on the rear.

Agreed, unless you can afford the best coilovers available then good quality shocks and springs will nearly always outperform cheap crappy coilovers
