Changing a set of non rev counter clocks to the rev counter type, but want to keep the original mileage if possible. Went to change the faceplates over, but can't get the needles off, is there a trick to doing them, or just brute force and ignorance to pull them off? Thought I'd ask first before using the 2nd method and breaking something!lol

Use a table fork that's what the old Lockwood kits advised

Makes sense, it would have been easier using that than me and the old fella and a screwdriver at each side to lift it up straight!!

DON'T! JUST DON'T!!!

Leave it well alone. If they come off, you cant guarantee they go back on in the same place, which means the speedo will never read right.
Instead, take the speedo you want to keep and turn it over to show all the cogs and mechanisms. Find the odometer and pull the pin that all the cogs for the mileage display rotate on. This should slide out with some reasonable force, letting all cogs fall out. Then just put them back in showing the mileage you require and carefully slide the pin back in.
Its not as hard as it seems, honest!

Only thing with taking them off is getting them back in the same place. I guess with the rev counter see where it sits when its running then when you put it back have the engine running. Because if you get them in the wrong place they will give you wrong readings.

There is marks on the clocks near the centre, small white notches, that tells you the position to put them back on.
