Post office is still fine if you know the reg's. I have one of those push through guides so know before I get there what is a large letter or a small parcel.

Medium parcels are a big no no if they are over 1kg though.

As a general rule of thumb if it looks like it will fit through a letterbox and is under 1kg it's fine for post office, If its a package of over 80mm thick and over 1kg then they don't want it so price themselves out of the market

The dimensions are changing again soon, as they know the made a serious error. A small parcel will go from the current 80mm x 450mm x 300mm, to around the size of an average shoe box.

If people wanted cheaper postage cost then you should of used you vocie/option to vote, tell your local councillors no to privatisation, as all private investorsare going to do is want there monies worth, its only going to get more expensive and worse, and the services you receive will get worse due to funding cuts etc, but its all to late for that now..
I know first hand as im a postman, and royal mail are screwing us over big time, and media coverage is all twisted to make us look bad and not cover the facts, our top bosses want to give us 2.5years on our current work contracts and conditions, then after that they can do as they wish, EG, minimum wage, and zero hours contract etc, but our unions wont have it, so were left no choice but to take individual action..

I would've thought privatisation will make prices go down not up. Imho there are private companies doing a cheaper better job out there, so the post office will have to try harder to compete.

I agree it'll make the Posties jobs tougher, but if you wanted a well paid low hours job you shouldn't have got into logistics.

Royalmail still decent for very small packets and airmail. Anything boxy and over 1kg is priced ridiculously compared to couriers. Shame relay as no doubt a fair amount of Rm's work load comes from online buying/selling.

I believe nobody else was allowed to, or they were allowed to totally monopolise that particular service market - correct me if I'm wrong

As for prices I tried to send a set of discs and calipers - Post Office quoted £41 through ParcelForce. I booked exactly the same service online (through one of these comparison sites) for around a tenner

Our office predominantly voted yes, we understand that the union needed a big yes vote, if not to actually take atcion, but so rm can see how we feel and that we want the t&c contacts to be more substantial, and last longer, and be legally binding.
I can't see us getting a 10 year agreement, but i would be happy and feel more secure in my job if we had 5-7 years..

Plus, no one person has had any paperwork to show or prove any of us actually legally own any shares lol
