I'm kinda hoping your gonna say this race is taking place on private land or up strip or something? Cos street racing is for tw@ts and is what gives Nova owners a bad reputation........

If your engine is standard and he has an induction kit it will probably still be quite close but i reckon he will beat you - unless you have your car stripped out etc.

'Tis gonna be close thoguh - at the end of the day you are both on a 1.6 8v engine.

As for beating a vts in a gsi - what mods have you got done to yours mate? coz the vts is a 16v.

You can get 1.4 VTR's.

And I know MAX POWER is shite.

In the back it reckons 1.4 vtr and 1.4 sr nova both do 0-60mph in 10 secs.

They blag, but surely if both are blagged den it will be equal.

So a 1.6 GSi should kick a 1.4vtr's ass, but dunno bout 16 vtr?

there is no such thing as a 1.4 vtr mate.
check the citroen website car configurator if you dont believe me.

there is a 1.4 that looks liek a vtr/vts with the extended arches etc but thats not a vtr - its a Furio, formerly known as Westcoast.

at the end of they day, the saxo should be quicker as it is newer and should be more lightweight and all that bollucks, but the novas are still quick, i reckon the nova is the underdog. down to the way the car is driven aswell.

saxo is a heavier car... not lighter.
all the extra weight comes from the safety stuff that has to go into modern cars.

Been in one once, a standard one... didnt seem to be that fast either really. Fair enough its a 1600 so its not that slow either but wasnt as quick as i expected it to be at all.

It'll be close but I think Nova..

You can get any Saxo to look Like a VTR/S, it's just that 99% will say Saxo on the door badges. As I found out when I 'went infront of' one around the Ring Road. The Youngster couldn't help but brake around every single corner, and when he finally caught up with me at the lights he forgot to take his handbrake off and stalled it.

I hit 95 in mine the other week - thats almost top whack. Must have taken it about 40-45 seconds to get up there. I like the handling, comfort and fuel economy, everything else is very average.

the nova desimated all yes to all you people who were asking if it was on a private road 1st gear was pretty close but as soon as i put it in 2nd the saxo was left. i am not a big saxo fan so i am very happy with nova showing that old cars still have to be reckoned with

Good man! Put those rich kids and their paxo..uhh, saxo to shame.

I have yet to be beaten by a saxo, an i only have a 1.4. Might have sumthing to do with t*&ts driving them though. The GSi would beat the VTR as the VTR only has bout 90bhp.

Paul

right just re-read my facts and vtr's are 1.6 sorry peeps

Do you reckon a 1.4 sr with the following mods would beat a vtr?

-32/34 webber carb
-piper 270 cam
-modded head, skimmed, ported, polished, gas flowed
-straight through exhaust system from manifold back...

VTR is 90bhp
GSi is 100bhp

that for a start should point to the lighter car (the GSi) winning

if u could get that SR to 100bhp then yes

and i think with that work u might well be there :D
