View Full Version : 3rd time lucky!
So I'm finally onto my third nova at just 19, I've decided to stick this one out and hopefully ending up with a car to be proud of.
i recently sold my red more door

In favour of this white 2door loon

its totally standard but like every nova has its problems and a little rust.
Problems like experiencing the bolt that holds the alternator bracket to the block coming out so the alternator is just bouncing around in the engine bay and running no fan belt. Luckily I managed to find the bolt and washer sitting on the other side of the bay on the gearbox, never heard of it happening before but guess there's always a first.
Like any nova it does have rust however next to none on the arches, somehow they are completely clean.
The he doors however are the complete opposite, the passenger door isn't too bad however has been fillered beforehand. The drivers is quiet bad and hopefully picking a new door up soon to replace it.

the car does have usual wear on the paintwork especially being white it does show up more but it's either going to get a respray or all the bad areas will be worked on like the boot lid

today was the first real day of getting work done, I put my coilovers that I had own for a very reasonable price on eBay and looked basically new

only managed to get the front done today but have some springs for the rear which I should hopefully get round to sorting tomorrow so atm the back is like a monster truck and as usual I need to get my tracking done as it's feeling like I have power steering atm haha.

Yes mate, the boy I picked it up from had the corsair a few other old school fords

I picked it up from a lad in bexleyheath and I'm the 4th owner so may of been local to us at one point in its life.
I saw the red one one on a driveway in Wallington last week whilst on way to work... There's quite a few nova's appearing again in and around Croydon.
Looks like a nice project...

Looks a good base for a project mate. What's the plans? Or is it a secret lol

Its no secret but should go along the lines of 1600 engine conversion, looking at ats classic wheels and just keep it super clean hopefully
So after is fitted the coilovers my tracking was way out as per, felt like having power steering again haha, so reluctantly took it down to my local ats to get it sorted and go be £40 out of pocket.
But in better news I got my rear springs in, what I thought to be 60mm but I think they're only 40mm so it's sitting like this.

I've also order some pressed metal plates, same place that millworm got his from because he's never experienced any problems with his so I thought I'd give them a go.
Hopefully picking up a new drivers door this week and maybe some interior goodies aswell

no worries dude
Pressed plates came and I can say I'm really impressed with the quality for the money I paid and that I ordered them on a Tuesday night and they were with me first thing Thursday, great service.
I haven't fitted them yet but will get some pics when I do.
I've also purchased some brand new wolfrace Eurosport slot mags with tyres that I think should look great however I am now £450 out of pocket haha.
Also the "partmeisters" are bringing me over a brand spanking new opel saloon grill that I've been after for a while but haven't managed to source and it took Jeffery about 30minutes. Delivered to my door for 50 great British pounds.
So a lot should be happening soon

if you want to stick the rear plate you will need more than the sticky stuff they give you as there are raised bits for screws to go into on the rear so you need to build it up either side
Trip to halfrauds is on the cards then
Received this today, courtesy of Jeffery and Niek, thanks!

Cool project mate, I think I saw this for sale on ebay not long ago, looks like a decent car for the money.
Where did you get the pressed plates from? I was thinking of getting a set made up for my saloon.
Thanks mate, yeah it's been fairly good to me. I got them from eBay, a guy called Paulroad123.
they're cheap and the quality is great.

I just need the back lowering now and my new wheels should be on their way
I'm not 100% on having the front plate where it is atm
What does everyone think?

maybe a vinyl stick on front plate would have been better; you can buy them reflective, with the BS etc.. would stick and follow the contour of the valence. Also could tuck some of it under the plastic valence lip- it wouldn't look so protruding..?
I have one, but not got round to fitting it yet :-s
You planning a correct saloon front skinny bumper?

Thanks mate, where's the best place to get them from? And I'll look into it.
I am looking at skinny bumpers, I'm not 100% with them though, and depends on what price their going for now?

I got mine from here.
Sods law with bumpers, one will pop up on here or ebay sooner or later - just remember to search for breaking nova as well as front bumpers themselves. Saloon ones I guess are harder to come by. Try a 'wanted' ad!?
For me its these kind of details that make nova's these days.. certainly less is more ; the larger SR/GTE bumpers wouldn't suit a classic saloon in my opinion.

Thanks mate, same here.
Some will disagree but a snowplough doesn't suit a saloon at all

And with the new wheels fitted, had an issue with wheel catching on the coilovers so was considering removing the helper spring but didn't know whether it would knock my tracking out, if anyone on here knows that would be great.

Tracking will be fine as long as the ride height doesn't change (measure from a set point on the wheel, ie middle of the centre cap or edge of the rim, to the arch lip before and after and make sure its the same)
