Hi there.

Got a new alternator for the smoker. Fitted it and everything works brilliantly apart from the rev counter. All charges well, battery light goes out. Split charge for coil works and all relays are new.

disconnected the plug on the alt to find it is a three pin and should be a four pin. Have tried to source and alt to suit the 4 pin plug but to no avail.

the wiring is as follows :
red wire : 12v permanent
black wire : 12v when on, otherwise 0v
green wire : signal to rpm
yellow/red : coil relay

Question is, how do I wire up the green wire to make the rpm work when there isn't a terminal for it on the alt???
I know it needs a signal from the alt. was thinking of splicing into the yellow/ red wire as it produces a low current signature to the coil relay. Would this work???

Any help guys and girls would be appreciated.

Thank you
