The Nova XE has been 'juddery' under average acceleration for about a week. Seems fine on full throttle and idle's fine. Took to garage who said try a new airflow meter but on way home tonight its died :( Throttle just disserpeared as though no fuel and engine cut out. When I turn the ignition on this relay is flicking like crazy suggesting a problem.....

The wiring goes direct into the loom beside the battery. Has this relay got an involvement with the fuel system and could it be causing the problem? As always any help and suggestions are really appreciated :thumb:

Thanks

That looks like the fuel pump relay

my xe was doing the same thing and it was the air mass. Maybe see if you can borrow someone with the same type as yours to see if it fixes it. Or see if you can get a good 2nd hand one.
I got a new one off someone on ebay for £65 posted. Think I was lucky though.

Try a new fuel pump relay its a common thing on these I always keep one spqre in the glovebox.

So it may not be a buggered relay, its the air flow meter messing with it? (Possibly)

If you can find them, get an early one. They are sealed.
Later ones can be opened which mean they get wet and jam on.

Can you get fuel pump relays new?
Or is it a pocket job from the scrappy?
also what cars have the same ones? Im guessing 2.0 8v are the same

Vauxhall told me today its been discontinued and they don't have any in the country or anywhere!! Seen patent ones on eBay...will they last?

Not aslong as what the gm ones would but it sould last as long as used one. If it works and runs fine then just buy a spare or 2 and keep them in the car

Go to a scrappy and fill your pockets.

Someone told me that the ecotec cavs/calibra's use the same relay, not sure how true it is but may narrow your search down a touch!

As long as the part numbers match (early and late ones are the same btw) then youre laughing:thumb:

Thanks for your help with finding the relay. Our scrappy's around here (Devon) are not the greatest and I couldn't find anything so I went to a local supplier and sourced a new one for £23. I've swapped'em over but still no joy?!

It's obvious the old relay is done for as its melted around a terminal and was 'clicking' and going crazy on ignition but with the new one fitted it just turns over with no boom! I can here the fuel pump working after its turned over so is my next port of call to check wiring and the pump?

Thanks

I am going to try changing the CTS also, as under half throttle it was very 'on/off' and I've read a dodgy CTS can potentially cause this? Is this the right one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/330811701131?lpid=83&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=83&ff19=0

Try and get a gen CTS is you can, aftermarket ones are very as nice i've found.

If you can here the pump prime then it's working.
