No problem. It's all cav love!
the shell is solid, and all the underside has been re-undersealed, so it's ready for a rebuild and paint, but I've had the Scarborough warning from the Mrs that I've gotta build her SR first. lol

I'm unsure weather to get the facelift headlights and grille :tard:
also unsure of what colour to have her painted?
scott.parker
06-10-13, 09:02 AM
Im not a fan of cavs, just didn't like how they drive, but can appreciate them, i say keep the early lights etc as everyone goes facelift, and mistral gray is nice gsi colour.
maddogdaz666
06-10-13, 09:09 AM
Cheers Scott yeah mistral grey is top of the list, but it'll be more work to paint the bay, door shuts, inside the boot etc, but it will be worth it.
Or do I go a custom colour? A non Vauxhall colour?
the list at the mo is
1:mistral grey
2:standard star silver
3:bauxdeaux red (or however it's spelt)
4:another grey/gunmetal colour
5:anyone's opinion?
6:burgo
scott.parker
06-10-13, 09:24 AM
Well being sensible keep it the colour it is as its cheaper, try find out how many of the different standard colours were made/are left, as sure a standard colour is best as no doubt you will want to sell it at some point, and people will want to pay good money for a good standard one.
Cav grey should be smoke grey not mistral btw Daz :p
Id leave the front end pre-facelift as its a GSi and iirc theyre all pre, as the facelift grille had the big griffin badge in it like the turbo's do, and if you want to keep the GSi grille, it wont match the headlights and imo will look very odd!
My red cav had a GSi grille when i got it, but i pulled it off as it didnt match the facelift lights and i wanted a red turbo rep rather than a GSi :d
chrisd1986
06-10-13, 04:12 PM
I take it a burgo paint job is to go madmax on it lol
maddogdaz666
06-10-13, 09:55 PM
Yeah spud if I changed the lights I'd be changing the grille and indicators too, and back lights and boot panel for turbo ones
I prefer preface lift lights as a Gsi should be :) but make the depo syle :)

maddogdaz666
06-10-13, 10:24 PM
Sweet I know what I'm doing after work tmoz then :)
what about the indicators? Or shall I bid on the ones that end in 2 hour? With the GSi rear lights I'm already bidding on
my inddys are form Germany as they smoked plastic
or you can do the same as the headlights and split them (Y)
but they don't split that easy lol lol
maddogdaz666
06-10-13, 10:54 PM
Ill bid on the set on that site then :thumb: cheers

tahir868
07-10-13, 07:02 PM
Smoke grey that is, the GSis are a darker grey
as above :)
the turbo had diff shades to the gsi's :)
maddogdaz666
07-10-13, 09:38 PM
I like the 190 phantom grey that burgo suggested, not seen it in the flesh yet. If anyone's good with photoshop feel welcome to work your magic with loads of different colours or greys, you will be paid by rep :) and possibly a tinnie if I ever meet you at a show :)

maddogdaz666
07-10-13, 09:43 PM
I didn't know the gsi's were a different colour grey to the turbo's
That'll be why I prefer the turbo's :)
I'll take a pic of some fresh paint tomorrow daz. Its like technical gray but with a bit of gold in it.

Been on a little road trip today and picked up a cav/cally turbo rear subframe with diff, shafts, prop and 5 stud hubs. A front turbo subframe (slightly different to accommodate the transfer box mount) and a c25xe engine loom.
Sh!tty iphail pic in the back if the Signum
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/maddogdaz666/E9494F99-9E47-4481-B464-657474E36320-1664-000002663F426D22_zpsafe2304a.jpg
But Still on my wanted list are
f28 6 speed box
transfer box
C25XE inlet manifold
C25XE etc
a set of nice seats, Gsi/Turbo/nice custom? (no tacky shizz tho)
A nice set of wheels, 4 or 5 stud as I now have a set of both hubs.
Complete dashboard. (That's not a daft price)
nice to see you got a 4x4 subframe after dar :)
maddogdaz666
19-10-13, 10:43 PM
Oh and if anyone can cut off the section on the bulkhead that's different on the 4x4 versions ill buy it :)
maddogdaz666
19-10-13, 10:46 PM
I only wanted to get the 5 stud hubs off the guy but all the parts were at a good price so I thought I may as well buy the lot lol now I can 4x4 it if I want to too
and there was you saying ill never find 4x4 parts hahah :)
maddogdaz666
19-10-13, 10:51 PM
True. llol all thanks to another PNG member forwarding a friends number. I was hoping he'd have all the bits in one place. I thought I was picking up a dash too but that n other parts were at a different place. but I'll be going back probably with more coin to buy a dash and other bits probably :)

Will a calibra dash fit a cav?
Will a calibra dash fit a cav?
Nope!
Windscreen has more of a curve than a cav dash, cavs have tweeters in the corners of the dash, a calibra doesnt!
maddogdaz666
21-10-13, 08:08 PM
I thought they were the same dash tbh
Nope the shape of the back of them is completely different, cav dash wont go in a cally and vice versa, everyday's a school day :thumb:
as spudly says no to a cally dash :)
and get them lights detango'd :)

This colour seems to be stuck in my head the last month or so. What are people's opinions in doing the Gsi this colour?

It was sat right behind an Aston Martin Vantage passing the house on the M62 at 140 :) love it!
Tomorrow ill be fitting the speedlines to it and the Gsi rear lights. Ill give it a mop at the weekend to see if I can bring the paintwork back a bit.
I'm gonna enjoy abusing her for the next 6 month :)

It drove great too. I think the gearbox has got a bit of play in it, and it has a little wheel wobble at 60 ish. But at 100 it's fine :) the tyres are crap that's on it lol it just wanted to spin the tyres all the time :) brought back teenage memories
