Hi,

How can I tell what brake master cylinder this is form the numbers shown on the pictures? I am needing a new master cylinder and not sure what is the correct one to buy. Can anyone help? I thnik the numbers on the master cylinder are: 2122 F88 4

The original car was a 1993 1.2i (CAT) but I have changed the engine with an XE and also upgraded the brake.....so what would be the best master cylinder to put on?

Thanks,

Robert

Probably best to go for a gte/gsi one as they had the largest brakes of any nova,

There will be a two letter code stamped in it somewhere on the alloy body if it is a genuine one.
Like AX or CS etc. This is the ident code that Vauxhall use to identify it.

GSi/GTE ones are 20mm, which that one is too. See the 20 on the under side at the end.

20 is the bigger nova one. Anything bigger has the brake line ports in different places. (like the astra one Lee is talking about above, you'll need all new brake lines)

benn that's the same as was on my 1.2i it had 20 on it. I have one that came of a gsi it has 20 on it as well the only difference between the 2 is the pressure regulators. the gsi had 3/35 were the 1.2 had 3/40 maybe I am wrong

Ok, not all of them have the 20. You can get as low is 16 iirc.

The numbers on the PR are for the rear brakes. I dont think you'll notice much difference with drums.
