Basically, I've got a LET in the nova with a F20 box. I've used conversion mounts from David Dixon to mount the engine.
Ive got bilstine shocks ( if that makes any difference)
Tyres are 195/50/15 (toyo T1R) on vectra 4 stud alloys with a ET of 49

and when I put it on full lock to the right the inside of the near side tyre rubs on the end of the gear box :(

car is going for mot and engineers report on wed.
Has anyone else had problems with tyre rubbing on box? Or any problems at mot with it?

Common problem, just dont go full lock, or make some form of lock stop for the rack, thats what Joff had to do to get his let nova through its mot before iirc!

Or dropping to 45 profile tyres may help, mine does it with 16's on so i just try not to quite go full lock (no tell tale rub marks on the box mean it isnt spotted come mot time lol)

I did add a 3mm shim/spacer behind wheel tonight but it looks like it would want 10mm or more

My xe dont hit with 16s on. Is your rack set up properly? If you put it on full lock the other way dose it almost hit the other side? Is it the same amout of turn on full lock left and right if you get me? Maybe getting the tracking done but with the sterring wheel one click to the right might fix it.

I think you can use jubilee clips as a temporary measure on the rack.

If its a MOT problem sometimes a 6 pack of beer helps. :thumb:

jeez... that much !

I guess big block + f20 + 195 tyres is a lot to cram in

Thanks everyone.
@Lee, I understand what you mean about setting rack up. It does have a slightly bigger gap on other side lock. I'll have a look at doing that today.
Also, I just remembered, it's got a quaife quick rack.

I have the same issue at mot time, my et49 cesaro rub on the gearbox, so I have to swop the fronts for some et45 ones and it's fine!

Sadly I don't have a spare set of wheels I can get my hands on befor wed :( and my steels don't fit over 288mm discs.

But it I think I'm sorted now. (By balley's comment) I've been looking at stopping the rack from going so far.

I did look at adjusting how much travel there was in the rack from the centre position. I could turn the steering wheel clockwise by 1hr and 17min (hope that makes sence) and anticlockwise by 1hr and 13 min
but tbh if ii was to even it out there is the possibility I could hit my oil cooler pipes on the offside.

All pics are of my test on a spare rack. To stop wheel hitting gearbox you need to add a spacer/ buffer to the other end of rack. (The drivers side)

Then slide off plastic sleeve

I found this rubber ring (bottom of the tool box item :) )
I cut it to get it on and wrapped it around holding it in place with a bit of silicone and slid the white sleeve back over it.

this now stops the rack moving across by about 10mm.
Once it's set overnight I'll know for sure if it's enough.
