The dreaded Z16LER piston 4 failure hit hard Saturday morning, warmed up the car and just gave it a bit of toe in second gear, as soon as it came on boost the piston came apart (see crack!) wedged itself in the bore snapping the rod which went through oil and water galleries, the front and back of the block, destroyed the sump baffle and filled the engine with bits of metal

Sourced a new block and head, just sorting prices for forged internals and some other goodies and waiting on a price for a garrett GTX28, custom inlet. Aiming for 400+

At least your keeping it alive :) will fairly shift with that power!

It shifted at 200 with a dying piston so can't wait lol

I assume your getting a new inlet as is it not that that causes the lean running on number 4?

Not 100% tbh burgo, people are a lot more adamant that its down to the injectors being max'd out that's why I got 540's but the damage was done before I got it. But yeh that's part of the reason

400bhp+ will be fooking awesome in a Nova lol nice to see a positive attitude instead of sticking it straight on eBay or breaking it...

There it is folks, that point of going over the edge & starting the ball rolling of spending insane amounts of cash on internal engine components & tuning/mapping.

Personally I bet the car will be most fun with factory (albeit transplanted) power.

This is a very valid point, but each to their own really. My freind has spent £1000s on his c20let van and it hardly sees the road as its always in pieces and the engine is top spec everything really, then on the other hand if you dont splash the cash and go "all out" then you will always be wanting more when your bored of factory power lol

But Nobby what about yours? Thats as much as standard, bar tge nos no?

Imagine spending loads on it and you kill it, you won't want to build it again, its why i never bothered touching the engine internals on my old car, i saw Lee's blow up twice, each time it cost thousands to re build, if mine pooped it self all i needed was eith new/second hand head, or bottom end and lob my tbs on and gear box etc..

The vxr internals are weak, not putting standard engine in again. With forged internals a door is open so I'm going through it. I've always wanted a big power car so that's what I'm doing regardless wether people think its a waste of money or not. It's my money that I work hard for :thumb:
