Hello,

Just about to wire a coil in to the car (non original loom) and just wondering about the ballast resistor side of things. Does my square coil have one built in? (I know the round ones don't) If not what ohm resistor would I need, something like a 1.6 ohm do the job? after the car has started what's the normal running volts, 6 or 9?

Cheers :)

you haven't said what engine.
only the 1.0l needs a ballast resistor, the coil dwell is controlled by the ignitor on the electronic ignition unit and a ballast is not needed.

Ok thanks again. So I have the two wires that come from the dizzy and connect to the two connectors on the coil. The other two connectors on the coil go where? Do I simply put a 12v live feed into the b+ there, or are they supposed to go into a amplifier module?

It's been years since I even looked at this sort of stuff and I cannot for the life of me remember how to do it...
