c20xe running r1 carbs ignition and q's

hi all my engine is nearly fully rebuilt now and my manifold for my r1 carbs is nearly all welded up
couple of questions really

my nova is a 1,0 life and i have read i have to get a mk2 cavalier dizzy and coil?
is this all that is needed to run my engine as i am not going ecu or do i have to get an ignition system of some sort

also my inlet manifold for the carbs has blocked off one of the water jackets on the engine is this ok to do this or do i have to modify another water port as well
my questions may seem daft or vague but im new to all this
