there is a 1.4 8v astra mk2 belmont down my local breakers, with a brand new weber carb (forgot to jot down the details) on it is this worth having as i can get it with the inlet?

is this or anything sought after for the novas? as it is so clean will be a shame for it to get fragged complete .. which it will!

let me know guys im new to this old school vauxhall scene hence the question :)

Get it bought if it is cheap, should be the same as one for a Nova

Most definitely get it in your parts bin, complete with manifold, engine too if your brave, but for the sake of 10 bolts you could take the head too.

When you ask them how much they want, try to dress it down, like

"How much do you want for the carb off that old astra? I would like it for a spare"

I trip over a mk2 Astra 1.4 engine daily at my Grandads so if you want some parts I'll remove them and my prices are reasonable and there's a mechanical fuel pump on the shelf lol

you forget that most breakers dont care about the price of spares. they bought them for less than the scrap value, so any parts they sell is a bonus. that's why theyre willing to chance selling it to you got a high price. if you dont want it then its no loss.
you can try and haggle, but if you seem too keen he wont budge.
