ended up as bad as Ernie, it came up very cheap and i just couldnt pass on it, so the cav is being killed and this is my new beast

52 plate 1.2 SXI, and the story goes as such.

started making a funny noise, AA and a garage where he broke down diagnosed a timing chain rattle. we swapped the timing chain, and found lots of metal in the sump, warned the owner who told us to go ahead and see what happened. its had some pretty major damage, knocking from the top and bottom ends, not had an oil change in about three years. "well, i suppose its only worth scrap then".

cheap corsa c? ok then :d

new engine sourced for cheapy cheap with a timing chain rattle, which suits me as ive got a complete new kit thats been run for about three minutes total lol

new engine has gone in today, and the rattle isnt even bad, so i'll run it for a bit before i swap it over (didnt want to put the kit on incase the engine was a duffer)

back in work tomorrow for a good service (full kit from vaux on trade club £19.99+vat!)

needs a good clean and polish, probably a better engine but i'll have to make do for now, and some bodywork attention for scuffs and previous poor repair work (very slight laquer peel in a couple of spots) but the bodywork its self is straight.

plans are de badge and de strip, swap the wheels for my Cesaro's, fit the 256mm brakes off the cav as i hate piddly solid discs, lower a tad so its looks a bit more normal, and just keep it clean and quiet.

still trying to get used to the idea of owning a car with ABS and air con to be honest lol

I didn't kill the cav, rust and neglect killed it. Okay, maybe I had a slight hand in it haha. All going well I'll flog this in the next year to fund a new nova :)

Its the engine that lets these cars down, I liked mine a lot other than the head gasket going pop :( good luck with it mate :thumb:

i really doubt that Asa would say something like that.......

anyway, a corsa c is still based on a nova, so let the lad get on with it without any grief

Flol!!!!

Don't think the 256's will fit dude, think the carrier bolt spacing is different. Zlet!

serious? ahh poo. any idea on some decent stopper upgrades for one of these things?

and the zlet may come in time... i'm working on the basis its the first car ive owned thats actually worth some pennies, so it may just be a case of run for six months, then find some shonky, rotten, beat up old peice of junk to throw money at for a few more years.

back on topic :d

useless without pics i know, but i've been pretty busy with work and fitting the corsa in as i can i didnt even think about it.

engine went in fine, slight timing chain rattle and a small water leak from the water pump, but i had all new bits to go on from the previous engine, so not a big concern. swapped it all over, it runs like a dream. sourced some second hand suspension from ebay for cheaps, and within an hour of it arriving at work the boss demanded i put it on the car, bear in mind he let me fit the timing chain in works time, and told the apprentice to fit brake pads for me, i wasnt going to say no.

all fitted, just needs the height setting and proper alignment, which is all being sorted cheap, next upgrades are corsa SRi brakes (calipers and carriers £25 on the bay, discs fairly cheap and pads are the same as whats on it) and ive bought another seat to retrim the drivers one (base bolsters have worn and the fabric is a bit threadbare)

all in all, this car still owes me less than £600. original purchase, engine, FK coilovers (not seized and looking like only used in highest set up), new brakes and a passenger seat, engine installation, full service, timing chain swap, mot. for less than £600.

and the aircon works :thumb:

scrubbed it clean today, hoovered it out, and fitted some lovely tailored mats

tailored for a mondeo, admittedly. then i sorted this issue out

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k155/asa_037/Corsa%20SXI/IMG_1183_zps8a21da19.jpg (http://s87.photobucket.com/user/asa_037/media/Corsa%20SXI/IMG_1183_zps8a21da19.jpg.html)

i had bought a passenger seat to use the foam, but it wasnt in much better condition, so i ended up cutting the weak sections out and refitting fresh solid foam from the donor seat, as well as using the bolster covers off the donor to sit below the original cover. end result is a more solid feel to the bolsters, with a bit more protection. should stop my rather ample backside from sliding in the cornerz y0.
