View Full Version : Chroming door latches?
Has any one had there door and boot latches chromed?
I'm wanting to do mine but wasn't sure if they have to be dismantled to do so?
Anyone recommend any where to do it?
I believe they do them complete and degrease them afterwards
I have mine done...

They were done all together then i used a grease gun to really pack them full of grease... As they are mega dry and hard to use when back from chroming...
My chromer in Fareham is very good. I recommend him very highly.
Cool, Ben do you have a rough idea on cost?
Also Ben I noticed that the actual catch on your is black. Did you take this out and cost it with something else?
I think two catches and 6 screw/bolts where £40. And no the latch bit is black, i think they have a coating on from factory that comes off when they are dipped...
Ok cheers, could you give me the details of the place you use.
Have you has the boot catch done?

I've had mine done - no problems with the door catches - as Benn said pack them well with grease and all will be well. My tailgate catch originally worked ok but then wouldn't latch correctly due to the internal mechanism disintergrating - I think that may have something to do with the acid dips they go though prior to chroming. I've reverted back to a standard latch so my tailgate would stay down !
