It all down to personal preference between the 16v and the 8v

Difference in cost is an xe engine complete sells for about 250-400 depending on how many are on there

And the seh I've seen go very cheap before

XE.
Far better engine

Fitment is the same.

I am waiting for the old 'SEH has more torque' argument, it will happen.

Some people say that yea or "feels more torquey" the only advantage of the seh is its bomb proof.

Yeah that is true the 8v is slightly tougher and cheaper which are it's strengths as an engine choice.

If you compare an SEH and an XE power graph the 8v will feel like it has more torque simply because it's power tails off earlier in the rev range, in reality comparing the two shows similar power and torque at low and mid range but the XE graph just climbs more at the top end.

Xe, you will only regret going 8v after you've fitted it and alot more tuning potential too with the 16v

All the same fitting bits needed, same wiring, but less power... XE can be bought for the same money at a 8v too...

No point in a 8v what so ever.

8v cheaper because no one wants them. Lol

Both good engines though, 8v will give you more room for maintenance etc. And a tad lighter weight over the fr wheels compared with the twin cam.

Like you want torque in a nova
