Just checking my passenger rear hub is ok....

Last weekend I renewed the brakes on the car, the rear brakes are completely standard 1993 Nova.

The handbrake cable was a really tight fit to get on and with new shoes etc I wound the adjusters fully down.

Refitting the hub, the outer bearing obviously was out but the inner bearing was sitting on the stub and not actually in the drum, I pulled it off and the rubber seal, checked it all looked ok, greased inner and outer bearings, put into the drum as hard as I could and put it all together adjusting for no play. I have never seen that before, will this be ok?

I drove the car today, there was a little tick noise coming from this hub which after a few miles got quieter and became a rythmic gentle rubbing noise (no need to quote that lol), after my 30 mile journey the noise had dissapeared, I checked all four hubs for heat etc, all were pretty cool, there was a little more heat on this drum itself than the other side, but not much. Is it likely just that a bit of the shoe was clipping the drum as it is so tight?

There is no bearing noise or wobble and the brakes are even.

There's handbrake cable adjustment on the beam itself.

You're hearing the new shoes scuff the inside of the drum(s) ~ Not the end of the world.

The important part is not to over tighten the hub but. It needs hardly any tightening.

Thanks guys, just wanted to double check with the bearing coming out the hub. I've tightened it the usual way until there is just no play.
