Im gonna be putting a C20XE 2ltr 16V in my nova in the next few weeks, ive looked into this job and have most things covered.
Does anybody who has done this conversion before live anywhere near bolton northwest and would you be prepared to come down for an afternoon to lend a hand.
I have done engine changes before and have all the right tools etc,it just makes sense to have someone who's done it before present on the day.
The engine bay will have allready been welded, ill have mounts and box spacers from "www.valvers.com" and ive got cav inner cv's to go on my gte shafts, and the wiring is no problem afterwards as im an electrician, its just the "engine in" part id like someone there to point out any pit falls.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I didn't feel totally confident when I did the first conversion on my own but it wasn't anywhere near as hard as some people made out. :D

I have just completed the conversion on my own, its not bad, but beleive me it is very very tight when fitted, don't listen to the horror stories, just deal with any problem when you come across them,

do as much work as you can to the engine bay before fitting the engine, ie fit a new steering rack if necessary etc, also fit as much as possible to the engine before fitting it because there is very little room to work when its in.

If you come arross any problems e-mail me I may have the answer

Sorry I can't come and help you but I am a bit far away

u prolly already know this but just in case, here goes. u mentioned gte driveshafts by this i presume u wil b using the F16 gearbox off your 1600gte engine, if u are thats ok, it wil fit, if u intend on using the F20 box u wont b able 2 use the gte shafts(Wont fit  ) Also when i fitted my C20XE i got some spacers made up as it says on valvers, which i didnt actually need as everything seemed 2 line up(every car will be different), i had 2 elongate the back mount holebut that was it, hope this has helped, have fun fitting it, its a doddle, i fitted mine on me own with 2 trolley jacks

cav inners and gte shafts work fine

spacers are needed to save enlogasting the back mount

thought the F20 box sat more 2wards the passenger side, meaning u couldnt use standard shafts, unless u wanted 2 use the original box(F16), im sure i read that on valvers, could be wrong tho.
Oh by the way ste wot does enlogasting mean???? lol :?

Nova 1.6 GTE comes with F13 box not F16, therefore it will not fit on the big block XE.

enlogasting? think he meant enlongating. dave can use his standard shafts with cav inner cv's but he no's this. the f20 box needs spacing to the passenger side by 10mm but im sure he knows this aswell.
most people feel nervous b4 starting conversions coz unfortunately there all different n each has it's own problems but theres nothin major 2 b done and the conversion is easy enuff.

ull do it no probs dave
