Question you should be asking is WHY? I can't see the point in putting a ****e engine in an M car
It'll end up as a high group car as the basis is still an m5
Quite simply, it'll save me a grand on import duty, so.....
It will still be an M5 even if you register it with a smaller engine, changing the engine size bears no relevance to the model.
A 2.0 16v nova GTE, might not be a 1.6 8v anymore, but it's still a GTE on the log book:thumb:
A/S/L btw :p
Oh hai, I r bz Dod.
Cheers Spud, that's wha I wanted to here. That's a grandin VRT saved so!

It certainly won't help you get cheap '2.0Litre' insurance like you are hoping.
On the flipside a 520 covered M bits ought to cost you more assuming it's all declared.
Well at this stage insurance isn't an issue anymore but the vrt is calculated on the carbon emissions so. A 520I is costing €700 where as the M5 is €1750, road tax is €1800 pa on the M5 compaired to the 520's €800. If I import it as a 2.0 M5,reform the 5.0 I can I. Sure it as such but tax it as a 2.0
So pretend to import as a 2.0, but keep the real engine in to commit tax evasion...... Not seeing the logic
No, it'll need to have a 2.0 fitted as it'll be inspected and tested for its carbon output and so priced on that basis. Road Tax is a revenue tax, the Gardai (Irish Police) have had their wages cut and the excess given to Revenue so they arent happy about it. I've been informed by a member of the Gardai, if the car is taxed (as in showing an In Date disc) then thats all they're interested in. The rest of the details regarding engine size etc dont really concern them as the're on a work to rule basis at the minute.
Easier to bribe the tester lol
You havent met them. Theyre worse than the Novaload admin were. Lol.
