Hi all I'm looking into using a nova shell I've got to auto grass it, but I can't find any rules or specs online can anybody help please?
I know you need a 1.3 engine but does it have to be standard etc and what else can you and can't you fit.
Cheers Gareth
Class 2 you are allowed to modify engines etc but all have to have a 32mm inlet iirc.
5 point safety harness minimum, full cage with door bars, and a seat support bar at the back, window net or arm restraint.
Join the Yorkshire dales forum, some good info on there

cage must be like that where the seat goes, that came into force last year iirc

Cheers andy, my brother joined a autograss forum and asked what was required and the answer he got was come to meeting and find out
Tbh mate, its the best place, the rules and regs online are vague for some reason.
But if you go to a meet, you meet folk with cheap bits and good advice to get ya going,i did,it.
It got me my car as I was gonna build one,but it works out far far cheaper to buy one done.

Does cage have to look exactly like that? The shell I have is caged but it looks more like a Harry Hockley one and is 40mm thick
Not exactly like that, but must have door bars, and have the seat part at the back

I always fill shells with scrap before I weigh them in, too.
I wouldn't have thought there would be much strength in that autograss cage Andy, sorry if it sounds a bit cheeky! Quite small box section. The cage in your nova is much superior G.C.
Id agree a fatter cage would be better, however, for oval racing at speeds no higher than the limiter in 2nd,it should be fine.

Yeah fair enough I suppose, never thought of that.

Inch box cages are out year after next so double check. You will need to get a rule book, someone may give u one this time of year.
Engine wise +40 pistons, balanced bottom end, 3 angle seats, 94mm thickness on the head, block decked with pistons 10 thou proud.

The rules are a bit vague matey,
Mesh on windscreen, no glass or windows required, real brake light and one in the drivers back window to show the marshals.
All 4 wheels must lock up for scruiteneering.
I think with class 2's there pretty much standard with a 32mm restricted carb.
There's probably quite a few engine mods that can be done and are legal nuts its a hard sport to find info on.
When I left class 1's I had a grand in a standard engine lol

Class 2 looks like fun, just been watching some videos on Youtube lol
Its the cheapest form of motorsport and I still can't afford to do it :(
Where do you race/are you going to race Andy?
