View Full Version : brake failure on track
Here is why I had brake failure at Knockhill,

checking the car before, the outer pads looked ok so assumed the inners were too, turns out the inners were down to the metal by the afternoon...oops.
I think I boiled the fluid as look at the colour it went, it was also full of air bubbles, not a good photo but I was soaked through with rain when I did the brakes yesterday.

Replace with some uprated pads if you're going on track days.

I once drove a car with a seized caliper and after a while the disc separated lol the outer braking surface broke off the inner hub part

yes the discs are 256, I don't know what the 24s are? I bought stuff for an astra GTE and it all fitted, apart from the shoes which are standard. haven't had time to drive it and see how it stops and if it skids evenly

heh you don't have to force a lockup to see if both sides are squeezing evenly; you'll feel it move either way if they're not working in unison.

Thanks, that's oone of my fun pre mot tests gone lol
tested the car today, the brakes arre even and there is no steering wobble, I did do to wheel locks at 40 mph, straight skids both times so, no drama!
