iv built a race engine to a spec of rules , new rule has allowed standard replacement part so whats the best 1300 cam i can get? can be from a nova or astra but has to be standard :d:d:d

Will that include the option irmscher cam that came with the sports? If not it'll be the gsi cam but you'll need to run a different fuel pump from the std mechanical pump.

its got to be a 1300 cam that was fitted as standard to either a astra or nova

if anything, a mk1 astra 1300s would be my choice, but i can't imagine its very much different to a nova 1300 one.

the astra always felt way perkier than the 13oo nova.. that varajet II carb must have done it.

There not all the same at all! I run a 1300 stock car same rule! You want the s cam out of the nova sr it can be identified by having a single dot on it on the end of the shaft on the dizzy end. Get 3 or 4 of theese and measure the lobes. I've had 3 that were all different lifts. Very minimal difference but they were different!

Just get the cam specs and have one ground. Most of the grassers do it, so the cams accurate and fresh.

I should say the spec is the same, but obv there are manufacturing tolerances and used ones can wear. I've sod a few of the AE cams and they all measured spot on for lift and are used by several to engine builders for stock car/ autograss engines.

Yeah to be fair I did find a cam that looked good and got banned for .5mm too much lift... Was quick though

the standard 1.4 nova cam has the highest lift out of all the nova cams

didn't some 1.3 Vaux engines come with an enem cam ( I don't know if its any better than the 1.4 item) but I sold an enem cam once an it had a lot of interest
