you need to sell a 1.6 16v & buy a 2.0 lol

erm.. seriously
16v:- powerbox manifold, decent chimney, headwork & cam, decent setting up session.... probably 1500 quid
8v:- twin 40's/bike carbs, headwork, cam, chimney, high comp pistons, decent setting up etc.. most likely more than 1500 quid

2.0 ecotec... about £200 gets you a complete 140hp engine with a ton more torque than either the above will.....

Very expensive to get that kind of power from those engines! You could go new 1.6 turbo vxr engine though if you want a small block hahahahah

Best idea IMO the c20xe is selling for a lot though these days I watched a bog standard xe with an f20 and everything needed to run it got for 500 quid !! Not including postage :/ lol

no, the best idea is the unsung engine of the last 20 years.... the x20xe, the dreaded ecotec... they are not very far behind the redtop in std power, & with a decat they are a lot closer, and for some reason, the car enthusiast community have gone out of their way to avoid them, yet gm has sold millions of them.. the heads don't crack (ooops, sorry.. go porous) & you can get them for cheap money...

or if you like electronics, the z18xe/x18xe1 1800 small block would be right up there too. it weighs less & they did a 130hp version

Isn't the x20xe just the c20 but more focused on emissions and noise regulations ?? That's probably why people don't really want that one :p

My GSI got 122 bhp on the dyno with Full system , decat , filter and chip .. More than enough out of the 1.6 !

This months Total Vauxhall has a 1.6 Turbo unit , any one on here ?

Then youll have to spend the rest of your money youve saved on not modding the 16se to try to get it to handle as well as a small block nova.

OP- its easier to set a maximum you want to spend then work out what power you actually have rather than the other way around.

If you still dont have enough speed/acceleration you can spend more money.
If it doesnt go round a corner/get power down you can spend more money.

Either way without a decent compramise and a budget spent wisely on both you could end up wasting money or spending more than required.
