My mate was up for the weekend, so as the weather was decent, we decided to take some pics with my Escort and his mothers Focus, seeing as there's a few similarities.

The Focus is a very nice car. I would happily own it.

RS1600i looks lovely but I am afraid it makes the Focus look like the most boring heavy lump of metal and plastic it is. God how I love old cars & liking newer cars less & less.

I dunno, I like this shape Focus. The new ones do nothing for me. I think the interior in this one is lovely.
I have time for old and new stuff. I', not one of these who could just drive an older car all of the time. I would get sick of that!

If only the Escort drove like the Focus. lol

There are some new cars that are nice but if I had to go out and buy a newish car now I would struggle to find something with the wow factor. I find new cars have no soul, character or real individual design anymore :(.

There are some new cars that are nice but if I had to go out and buy a newish car now I would struggle to find something with the wow factor. I find new cars have no soul, character or real individual design anymore :(.

I think mainly, my interest in 'new, new' cars, stops around the time of the Focus (2007ish). I think after that, they changed again, both in appearance, and driving feel. So I am not very keen on those at all. Of course that will change in time...

I just mentioned the character and soul etc argument to my mate yesterday, when I was driving his newly acquired 2003 Cooper S. Now that has it by the bucketload imo.
As for new stuff, he mentioned the Nissan Juke. I can kind of see where he is coming from, but there's no question we are moving away from individual design etc. :(

They all have their place, imo. I just love seeing old school stuff still on the roads. No ST500 love from you then! lol


You need some black number plate screw caps

I used them on the rear, as the yellow was a ****e match with the plate lol. It will be getting SERCK style dealer plates, sometime soon. Just need to get it's original plate back on first. :)

Thank you mate. I always wanted a 16i, too. Shame it's not very quick, but it's not about that.

Black was the least favourite colour choice for me, but I bought this one on condition. It has grown on me though, and I like it a lot more now.
Nothing shines (and shows marks) like a black car!

TBH I hate the Mini. I have driven a few and I find the early ones cheap and nasty. Not a fan but I used to work for BMW Mini and the BMW's made them look so cheap.

I find it difficult to like any modern hatchbacks, they all look the same. I think the only one that catches my eye at the moment is the Alfa Guiletta.

I dislike the later MINI. My sisters 2011 Cooper D is ****, in comparison. I can see why comparing a MINI to a BMW would make them look crap. MINI Vs. Corsa/Fiesta etc though, and it looks a lot better (imo).

I know someone who had a MiTo, and talk about trouble! To be expected with an Alfa I guess. Agreed on the Guiletta, it looks very smart.
They do a nice estate also. Unsure on model.

Really like the escort big fan of them :) a mate of mine used to have a white xr3 used to love going cruising in it.

Focus is ok nothing special IMHO though still a nice car at the end of the day.

Focus is horrible tho lol that red leatherette interior looks shocking

Absolutely love Mk3 Escorts, particularly the RSi...don't like the Focus - as Scott says original Focus RS for me

Im with you ... The RS1600i will allways look cool , Were lucky enough up in scotland there's a lot going about .. The focus for me is a nightmare to drive and suffers from mega torque steer.

My mum & dad have a Focus ST each.. still would have the Escort anyday.

Those ST's are some piece of kit when they the 300 BHP mark.

I like the old school more,however the ST is nice! heres a pic of my gf's 324bhp ST next to the cavvy turbo ;)

Yeah. The first time I saw that car, I thought mine had climbed off the axle stands. lol

Dunno who that is reflecting in my bonnet. lol There was an old couple walking their dog, who were chatting to us about the cars.
Could be one of them.
