When I had my tank painted it was shot blasted. They sealed it up but there still sans made its way into the tank.

I've washed it out with water buys there's still fine grit/sand stuck to the inside.

Does any one have any ideas on how to clean it?

I'm thinking the best thing might be petrol but its not going to be a nice job.

Personally I would have used the money spent on blasting and painting it on a new tank instead...

However I would suggest using an air compressor to blow into one of the holes on the tank, block up every other hole but one and see if you can blow out all the dust and crap. Get the place that blasted it to do it if you dont have access to a compressor yourself, as they clearly did a poor job to let the shot in the tank anyway so should do it for free.

Make sure you fit a decent fuel filter as well, then replace after 100 miles...hopefully that will block any leftover residue from reaching the engine

I think the Hoover too with a flexy hose taped on to get into all the corners and once your happy fill it up with water and give it a good shake to get any sand moving

I had mine done, used an air line as best as it could get, fitted it along with a pre and post fuel pump filter, found out 6 months after the shot blast had damaged the top of the tank, where the 2 halves are joined, leaked like a seive

steam cleaner, pressure washer etc... then heat gun to dry it out. then definitely fit a large fuel filter before the pump intake.

Lots of swilling & rinsing. Comment about a filter doesnt have any regard for your pump though. How much is your pump worth?
