Hey folks,

I'm looking to try and find A link I used previously to setup my gear linkage but can't seem to find it anymore.
Can anyone point me in the rite direction or even post up a link?

Thanks:thumb:

I don't know of a link.

But I did mine a few days ago (F20)
There is a plastic bung in the top of gear box (not breather one) all you see is a flat head like a button. You remove this.
Then I slid in a drill bit (not the cutting end) I can't remember what size (about 4-5 mm) one that's a snug fit.
You have to rock the linkage on gearbox across the neural plain. And drill bit will slide in. Locking the box in the 'set' position.

Undo the pinch bolt that connects the rod to the linkage

Then inside the car, remove the gear gaiter. And have a assistant hold the gear stick to the left. (1st 2nd plain)
On the side of gear tunnel there is a small marker. You want the leading face of the tab (on side of gear stick) to be between this marker.

The marker is about 3-4 mm wide.

(It's on passangers side of surround)

Then while its held right there. You then do up the pinch bolt on linkage.

I just followed the Haynes manual. There is a way of fine tuning it further for 5th gear. But I didn't need to.

I did the drill bit thing, but just held my the gearstick where it felt 'right' to be in the middle, or neutral position, then my mate tightened up the pinch bolt, job done, and going on for two years later, still gets all five and reverse:thumb:

I really cant understand why people struggle so much with this, its piss easy lol

I did the same. Held it in the middle, mate does the nuts up. Check i get gears, if not move a tiny bit either way to get the missing gear.
