View Full Version : Losing power
Evening,
over the last week or so my 1200 spi nova seems to be seriously struggling for power. On full throttle in third it will just about go over 40mph but sounds like its running on all cylinders. The engine sound seems a little deeper too, any ideas what I should be looking for would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Slipping clutch? Timing out? No eml on? excessive use of fuel? :)
no clutch slip or engine light and I have only done about 5 miles since so not sure on fuel use sorry,
could it be a fuelling issue?

when you say full throttle . do you mean the pedal is on the floor but its not revving as it should or
its screeming its tits off at 40 mph in 3rd

deeper sounding engine you say ... like an exhaust blow or something ?
Pedal is on the floor but its not revving as it should.
Handbrake is definitely off
Could be an exhaust blow but haven`t seen anything to confirm that
If your exhaust was fcuked you would still have power,
However,
If your exhaust is blocked ( Potatoe in the tailpipe or collapsed muffler ) that would choke the engine and make it struggle,
To be honest it could be a lot of things, process of elimination I'm afraid.
Had a bit of a chance to poke around today and found that the packing in the exhaust has moved. I pushed it further in with a wheel brace and it freed the power again, however after a few minutes driving it had done the same.
What are my options here regarding either repacking it or removing the packing
thanks
