Thanks guys, need to clean the interior and exterior and give it a clay bar/polish/wax treatment. That's it basically. Also got some early smaller mirrors as I'm not a big fan of the Engelmann mirrors. But they're bolted on the doors so swapping isn't an option without respraying the doors....

Any plans for the engine. Needs a 1.3 :)
Looking great Jeffery, nice purchase seen it advertised earlier in the year.

Cheers mate, well they made a total of 98 Michalaks, don't know how many are still around. Some estimate between 25 and 30. There should be 3 in the Netherlands: Pastry's GSI rep, mine and another one...

Hi Jeff
Nova looks great
But what about the GSI
You gave up on it?
Cheers Stu,
The GSi will need a full long term resto.
The Michalak is just for the fun in the sun.
So I'm not parting with the GSi as I have all the parts for the rebuild here, just need to save up some more to start...
You do know the GSI is going to take even longer now,
Now you have something else to tinker with
I'm looking again, got that nova itch
Nice buy Jeffrey, I guess Billing next year will be our first chance to see it?
It's also nice to see you doing the same as me, buying another car to enjoy will the car that's in bits continues to drain the bank account lol
Seriously though its best to take your time with the GSI rather than a rush job that you'll regret.

Was only joking, keeping this one original with the 12NC engine!
Very nice car :) Looks almost brand new!
But one question though, why do all (I've seen) LHD mk1's have the choke in the switch panel, not by the ignition shroud like RHD ones?

Can't tell why Mazz, but I know that ALL LHD Mk1's have the choke in that same place. Maybe something to do with space behind the dash on RHD or cable length?

Nice car m8! Your Michalak is 100% the way it left the factory! Great love it. Glad to help you! And nice meeting your mrs. Hopefully sunday 2 Michalaks drive together for a nice touring trip. :-)
Unfortunatelly these older cabrios never been waterproof enough. Just thinking about the chopped door frame for example.
This is the reason why I using underbody coating at inside floor too and will be trying to use this HOBBY CAR in dry conditions.
The roof is enough for a fast summer-raining/shower and the inside is drying out when the sun is shining again and the roof is down :(

Dropped the Michalak at the body shop this week to re-align the front wings, lower valance, and have them respayed together with the bonnet, scuttle panel, A pillars and front part of the roof section. It seems that the car had a small collision front left. The lower valance was pushed back by half an inch and both front wings were bent slightly.
Let the pics do the talking:

Mainly surface rust on the T2... lol
Getting the whole front resprayed: front panel, wings, bonnet, pillars, roof (what's left of it, as Mr Michalak chopped it all off...) and scuttle panel.
That's what they all say...lol and nice! Should look great.

Is the plough & Michalak headlight eyebrow going back on? I think the skirts do not look right as they are the earlier type with the step to fit under the plastic bump strips. The later ones are different and taper out.
Cannot beat fresh paint, this will look amazing for Billing next year ;). Makes me want to hold back on my resto so I can take my Spider down too :)

Yeah, both plough and Michalak eyebrow are going back on but the Opel logo isn't going back on. Both have been resprayed. I know these side skirts are for the hard plastic bump strips, but then again I don't like the look of them on a Michalak.

Jeffrey, what puzzles me is the little crack on the B-pillar... I know what's behind and you should be able to see that from the inside but be sure to check there is no inner rust there as you will not want that... You can also check through the vent-hole above the door lock bolt.
But other then that, looking very fine and

Agree on that. Sooner or later, all Michalaks have that same problem. Cracks on the paint and filler due to the welding done on the side panels and rust coming through. To do it properly you need to remove all filler. And there's a lot of it :tard:
Not mine... not mine... say mine's not going to get that problem...

My bumpers are a bit to blueish compared to these, need to sort that out. Seems that U-Pol Mid Grey isn't the right colour for an early Mk1...
Was a great day out! Thanks to Danny, Tom, Thomas and all the others!!

Wheels look ace. Nice to see all five Michalak's together, hopfully you guys can repeat that line up on the PNG stand at Billing ;).
Sorry, not liking the bumper colour, I prefer the original browny/grey colour. Minor thing on a great car though.

So, I chased the seller of this part for the last few weeks as the reserve was not met and I had to have it...
We worked out a deal, and now I can fit this superb steering wheel and save the original steering wheel from wear and tear...

And I got this as the original switch is bleeched by the amount of sunlight hitting on it when the roof is off... .LOL

Maybe I'll fit this one as a Michalak doesn't have a heated rear screen

Nice wheel, what is the heater switch from without the HRW switch on it?
I bought a Mk2 Cav one but the terminals on the back are different.
I was going to fit it to the Spider but the hard top has a HRW. I have a clear rear screen for the Swing with no elements so may need one for that.

This is also a Mk2 Cav switch. I'll look into the switches next week or so.
So last year when Niek and myself were on your nice little island I was bidding on a set of MSW alloys and won. These were claimed to be new and had the right size and offset for the Michalak. I wanted to collect them in July 2013 but the seller was not around, so tried again in October when I was visiting Munich for some Oktoberfest action, hence they were in a small village near Stuttgart (6hr drive). Again he claimed to be in Italy that same weekend. And then my dad's health was rapidly deteriorating, so I had other things on my mind. I contacted the seller again in March trying to arrange a pick up as I had paid for the wheels back in June 2013... No reply.... Tried to contact him sending a message every day for two weeks via ebay, again no reply... Contacted eBay CS to find out if they were able to help me out and in a few days I received a reply from him telling me that he had an accident and was recovering from that.... I also found a picture of him on the net and spotted other items he had for sale on ebay on a different address. We set a date and as that was a month away I contacted him in the week before to confirm our ETA as we needed to pick up some more parts on our way. Again no reply.... We're were to leave on Saturday around 6am and the ******* sent me a reply on Friday night to confirm...
We got there exactly at the confirmed time (surprisingly as that never happens when we come over to the UK) and there was a guy waiting for us at the address. He claimed to be a friend of the seller, but I recognized him from the picture. So I played the game along as all I wanted were the wheels. 5 minutes later they were in the back of my car. Couldn't believe that after almost a year I finally had the wheels. So now you know the story behind them, let me share some pics:

Only thing missing to me is a little bit of side trim on the front wing ;)
Fantastic though and the new wheel choice really suits it.

I know, but I'm undecided whether to put them back using double sided tape or to wait until the respray and fit new ones...

Na, my cars are both in a private lockup. So that means other people are stalling their campers and caravans too...
