Hi guys, as above I have tried nitro mors and that appears to be taking ages. What have you guys used in the past.
Any help would be great.

different grades of wet and dry sandpaper from start to finish isn't bad. however can take bloody ages on multi-spokes and other designs.

Nitro Mors is the way to go if you can't get them blasted, you just need lots of it and patience.

ignore what I said about sandblasting - apparently it costs a fortune

Sandblasting puts pits in the wheels too.

Well blasting isn't always the same; depending on gun, nozzle, media, person blasting. I've have carbs (alloy) blasted to a really good standard without damage.
