Grey Nova GTE 16v

Today I got my GTE 16v

Im really happy with it, and cant wait to get it on the road and play with it.
after work I had a little poke about and there was some bits not right so have been sorting them out, like the washers were the wrong way round and the bonnet pull cable was on top of the header tank. And someone has stuck stickers all over the place, so have been removing them.
My plan for the car is, get it MOTed, then get it mint, there are some bits missing from the car, someone has had the rear seats out and lost all the clips and screws so will be after them, and the clips that hold the sides of the rad in place are missing. worse thing is, I use to have a box full of this sort of stuff and binned it all years ago when I thought I wouldn't ever buy a nova again lol

I did want a red one and I have had it in my mind to paint this red but its starting to grow on me now, and every other nova is red or white

Thought I would do a little update.

Iv had some running problems with this, iv ended up changing the plugs, leads, dizy cap, arm, CTS, air mass, power cap gasket and servo pipe (it had a coolant pipe on it) then on saturday I found that the clips that hold the loom on to the injectors are all missing, I noticed because the loom wasnt on number 4 injector at all. Though all the parts I have changed needed to be changed anyway apart from the CTS but that was about £11.50 from vauxhall.

I have also fitted a MK2 dash as someone had cut the mk1 dash to fit a digi dash (that didnt even work properly)

Also I got my self some H&R coilovers and a set of speedlines.

I have changed some little bits and bobs too, and been trying to get bits that look new to replace the old warn looking parts like the pipes in the engine bay, and rear lights.

Very nice. Speedlines look the part buddy. Take all them stickers of as well. It takes the originality away from the look imo...

Do you mean the stickers on the back window? If so they were taken off the day I got it lol.
I do plan on getting new plates but getting it running was more important. Now I have it running I want to change the oil and filter. And get it stopping, the brakes are poo!

I'm a hater against the clear indicators. Least you got the stickers removed (Y). May I add u need that sunroof left open, it'll look better in pictures lol...

I also got a new thermostat and sender to tell the gauge how hot the engine is.
Found there wasnt a stat in the housing, so that might be why the gauge hadnt been moving lol
after I done that and tinkered with some bits when I was bleeding it I gave it a wash, TBH the paint work is shocking when you rub your hand on it, but I planed to respray it anyway.

Looks well that does, i think the silver on the wheels is a little too bright in contrast to the colour of the car, i reckon they'd suit the car in a light grey or anthracite colour:thumb:

Im going to change the colour of the car next year, and I think im going to change to 5 stud so that means new wheels.

Ahhh, glad to see someone who deserves it bought it, hope its not too rough, i saw this a whole back on ebay for £1200 thought it looked to good to be true at that price, is it a genuine GTE on logg book also,? As the red pin stripe made me think it could of been a diamond or something as a gte lookalike etc.

Yeah its a real GTE on the log book, didnt GTEs come with a pin stipe? I had a white GTE years ago that had a black stripe down the side. Iv had some problems with it tbh and it seems like every time I take something off or look into anything I find a bodge. But if Im honest I sort of like spending time on it playing with it and cleaning bits up. I would love to strip it back to a shell and do it all up properly, will have to see how things go next year but I plan to paint it and make it look mint. Would be nice to have it looking smart for some shows.

Ps I paid more than £1200 for it. I got it off a guy who had two novas xe, a corsa xe and a astra GTE with a saab turbo engine. He said his misses told him to sell the novas. But I got the impression he got it to do up and sell to make some money but got fed up with it.

Iv not really been on here much, so thought I would pop my head in again lol.
I think iv picked a colour for this car now, sort of want to get it painted now but funds are low, so it might have to wait for a bit, I also have got some supertouring wheels and the 5 stud bits, just need to get some nova hubs to modded.
Think I'm going to repaint them white again, I dont think they look right any other colour.
My plan is to get the car on a ramp and take the fuel tank and exhaust off and get it all cleaned up and under sealed and any work done that needs doing under there, maybe a new tank if it needs it. When I do the 5 stud I want the axel painted black, new bushes and break lines and so on.

This is the colour I have picked, in the sun the paint looks so deep you could swim in it.

Been doing some more bits today.
I polished my plug cover but I didnt like it, it was pitted and you could still see the vauxhall 16v in it. So I painted it. I had some paint kicking about thats meant to look like polished alloy, so I thought I would give it a go.

I also dug my two doors out and sanded back anything that looked like rust or anything, they look pretty clean, so all I need to do now is fill the dents, and get them primed up and painted.

starting to have a change of heart about the colour, Im thinking of doing it red, keep it simple and sort of more original looking.
